Top 10 Wii U Ports That Aren’t Coming (But Totally Should) | GenGAME

Wii U’s received a lot of flak for the copious number of third-party ports heading to the system at its launch: games like the almost-a-year-old Batman: Arkham City, this past spring’s Mass Effect 3, and Ninja Gaiden 3. It’s hard for a number of people to accept these games as true multi-platform Nintendo games and not just efforts to easily cash in on Wii U at launch by offering a bunch of updates to old gems.

I don’t think the problem is that they’re ports; the problem is that they’re not the correct ports to get people excited about the system. Multi-platform games practically built the last generation for HD systems. Wii U’s going to need games that go beyond appealing to the mainstream sensibilities if it’s going to stand out from the rest. Read on for a list of ten of the most drool-inducing suggestions that come to mind.

Hate me for it, but here are a couple wishes I have:

- Ocarina of Time 3D (more milking = more money, though porting the game from handheld to console could prove problematic, and obviously this isn't a high priority given that OoT has sooo many different versions, not to mention a new Zelda for Wii U is easily preferred by most)
- Borderlands 2
- Splinter Cell Blacklist

I don't wish to see a plethora of ports cloud the Wii U in its first months. Third party support is great but the prospects are much improved with exclusives such as ZombiU. If Nintendo can convince developers to produce titles specifically catered to its first venture into the HD market centering around the system's versatile GamePad and other control inputs the console will flourish.

GenGame's list is pretty good and I'd like to share my opinions regarding some of the selections. Okami already had a romp on the Wii it would be overkill to release it the game once more on a Nintendo platform (even though Capcom is doing just that with respect to the Playstation brand). Epic Mickey: Power of Two and New Little King's Story are a great fit for the wii U due to being sequels to smash Wii hits. With New Little King's Story specifically, the installment would superbly translate to the Wii U seeing as how the said system and PS Vita offer similar experiences.

The biggest steal, however, would be Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The title is absolutely gorgeous with its anime aesthetic and would fit right at home on the Nintendo front seeing as how the Kyoto developer has long been acclaimed for catering to younger audiences. Since Level 5 and Nintendo reached great business negotiations in the past-Professor Layton comes to mind-I'm sure the Big N can pull this one off easily.
