Honestly, I'm pretty happy with my gaming year
Truth is these days I don't have a lot of time for video games 'cause of work and real life commitments, so for what I was able to get my hands on, I'm, in general, pleased!
Around the end of last year/start of the year, I was just finishing off
Mario 3D World and
The Legend of Zelda a Link Between Worlds. Since they crossed over into this year for me, I'll list 'em. Enjoyed both immensely.
The start of this year I got to play
Bravely Default on my 3DS, and you know what? I thought I got over my love for JRPGs yeeeaars ago. Apparently not, because I really, REALLY enjoyed BD--I played it to death lol in that I maxed out every class, did every sidequest, and got to the point where The Adventurer was hardly a challenge. Still, considering how much play time I put into that game, I'm gonna say it was well worth my money!
After that,
Tomodachi Life had my attention for about 2 months. It eventually got eh-ish, but for the time I did have it and it was all new and shiny, it was one of the most ****ed up and funniest games I've had the pleasure of playing. Just some of those situations myself and friends would get put into, and the really dumb drama and love stories and heart breaks and lmao, ah, it was pretty good. Over on another forum, we had a thread dedicated to it where we posted screenshots of the game, and some of the stuff people posted were straight-up hilarious.
Mario Kart 8 was the next thing I got to play, and... well, I'm still playing it regularly today lol, like from the day it was released. I'm actually not that big on racing car games! Minus F Zero, I can't really stand them D: but MK, especially online play with friends, has been the source of hours of fun and laughter and butthurt. The recent DLC with Link and all the new tracks were superb too, though I swear to God everyone picks the Excite Bike track way too often lol. Gah.
Sometime after this, I got my hands on
Super Smash Bros for the 3DS. Tbh, I didn't even think I would LIKE a fighting game on a handheld, but I bought it anyway because I've been Smashing since the '64, so I guess part of me felt more obligated than curious. And I ended up enjoying it. A lot. And it made me wonder more at how much I might enjoy the console version.
I was a bit skeptical about
Hyrule Warriors, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I got into it. I think I spent a good couple of weeks just really playing it over and over. It's also been a great source of fun to talk about with friends; we compare weapons and times and share tips and whatnot.
Ah, and then prob the biggest thing for me all year:
Super Smash Bros. Wii U. Gatdamn. If you asked any of my buddies who was the first person they thought of when you said "Smash U" they'd prob say my name lol. I'm stupidly addicted to it. I even customised my Amiibo Link into an Oni Link Amiibo! I plan to get me a Mario Amiibo so that I can customise it into an American-flag-wearing Mario xD.
Right now, I've actually gone back to play Mario Galaxy 2 some 'cause I just got the urge, you know? But what's waiting for me on my coffee table is
Bayonetta 2 which my best friend sent to me as a gift. I was super-into Bayonetta on the Xbox, so I'm really looking forward to playing that!
Other things I've purchased that I've not yet had the chance to play include
DragonAge: Inquisition.
So yeah, considering this is spanned out over a year, I can't say that I've played a lot of games, especially compared to how I used to game in my younger days. But what I have purchased, I've been very happy with~, and that's good because if I wasn't, then I'd be wasting my money and that's a downright ****-off lol.
