Games...that is what moves kids, teens, adults, and even grandpa to the couch and play. And we all love it, but the one who loves it the most isnt us, it is the gaming industry; and not because we are happy.
First the obvious Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, etc are companies, that means they must genereate income. For what? Everything. To pay the janitor all the way to produce a new game and make more income. The key words there are "new game". They keep releasing games after games and we keep buying them one after the another; we really dont mind, after all we do want to sit 30-50 hours in our couch to get our brains boiled. But isnt one game enough? The answer is yes. But companies make us think no. Why?
As an innocent example, Zelda. Say, you didnt like in OoT the mulitple warp songs, GOODY GOOD! Nintendo heard you and in MM we have only one warping song...but now...you just hate another thing. No problem again, Nintendo fixed it on WW, but everyone hates the extensive traveling. And how that affect us? We simply BEG Nintendo to make us a new Zelda. We just say: "This wasnt good enough, the next one better be good". Yeah right, Nintendo will go laughing all the way to the bank with your money, and just fixing the mistakes of an old game and putting new ones. Of course not all mistakes are in purpose, but that doesnt really matter to them. Another great example of this is the Final Fantasy series, most say that from VII forward sucks, and they just keep buying the newest one the comes out.
Another thing that companies do, speacialy Nintendo in this case, is making you buy console after console -yes the DS-. Why not just release one ULTIMATE DS, simply, its not profitable. Assuming you got all DS version you payed around $1500 dollars -excluding games-. Aha, and around one million sold of each one, make your math.
Now include, the Wii Motion Plus you bought that you havent used in ages just for Wii Sports Resort, that piece of plastic they named the Wii Zapper, the 3 additional Controls and Nunchucks you bought, and of course your Wii Fit Board. For what? At the time it seemed awesome, but now the Wii U is coming out and most likely half of them will be useless.
Finaly concluding the one thing that ALL companies do, is the download stuff. Yes, the Wii Shop, the PS Store etc, all that that takes away from you some $20 bucks occasionally, yet it is still money. I am not saying that only Nintendo does all this things; all companies do, even third parties.
And yet we continue falling, yet enjoying it...isnt ironic
