Nintendo 3DS Streetpass Question

So I just wanna make sure all you have to do is turn On your streetpass and wireless and put your system in sleep mode and when you cross someone else with a 3ds in sleep mode on the street, there mii will goto mii plaza and mine will goto there plaza? And thats how it works?

You activate StreetPass within the game or application itself. Then you make sure you have wireless on. Close the system and walk around. That is all there is to it. Nothing more is required.
