I was watching IGN on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxawTH87PHk) and at 17:18 the guy said that Nintendo will announce a new Zelda tomorrow.

Not sure if old new; just though it would be something you would all like to know about.

I'm pretty sure he asks if a new Zelda were to be announced tomorrow, which would the audience rather it be: 2D or 3D.

He was saying to the audience if Nintendo were to announce a Zelda game. He phrased it in a way that implies they're releasing it tomorrow, but he was merely throwing that question to see what the crowd supports: 2D or 3D. Nintendo would have probably told us by now if they were going to announce a new Zelda game and unfortunately such news doesn't exist.

Yeah, I didn't watch the whole thing but it sounded to me like he was just speaking hypothetically to poll the audience.

Yep we do make mistakes sometimes, I'm sure every 25 seconds somebody is saying a new video game is coming out tomorrow.
