i guess i have a knack for storing random useless information and discarding everything else.

I'm the same way lol, my brother mentioned hearing a song at a concert we went to last year and how good it was and I had no memory of that specific song, heck, I had forgotten that that artist was even at said concert, but I can remember the most mundane conversation details/other random minutia about daily life. Not on command tho, just if something jogs my memory.
