I agree with most folks here. According to a few different games, the Kokiri are very precious to the deku tree. Course, you knew that. But anyways, he didn't want to lose them so he probably told them that so that they wouldn't leave and go out and pssibly get killed. Though after Ganondorf is gone it's all safe, so maybe the Kokiri knew they would be safe after Ganon left. Then again, maybe the monsters disappeared altogether. But wehn Link grows up, Hyrule Field has like no monsters but poes. So they were kind of safe anyways. And About WW. Yes the sages were killed. But the storyline is sooo different from OoT. Sorta. Eh, whatever. Anyways, the sages in OoT have "special powers" that protect them and they are all in one temple. In WW, the two sage are both in different temples. Saria is protected in a temple in the Sacred Realm.
