The Legend of Zelda How Do You Save Your Game?

this is a really dumb question but I'm at a loss in both The original and Zelda 2 --how do you save? I have the both on emulators and the first on GBA. No button seems to work, theres no menu to save. I thought maybe it saves automatically but it doesn't - at least on the emulator. The only way I saved on an emulator was using save states. I don't know what to do on the GBA. What am I missing?

You have to press "Select" and "Up" at the same time. It will take you to the screen that will say "Save" or "Retry," there's also an option above "Save" if I'm correct, but I can't remember it. This is for both LoZ, and AoL.

Move the cursor to "Save" and press "Start." It will then take you to the File Select Screen. When you start again, you will be in the starting area with only three hearts out of however many you have.

In the original LoZ, I just kill myself, which will then take you to the screen that says "Continue," "Retry," and "Save," and select save.

yeah...i just die and save then continue the game...i wasnt aware there was another way...
