That would mess with the story
There are two easy ways to fit a new story in, you either have to make all new characters and during the events of botw but keep it in vacuum (like War in the North: Lord of the Rings, War in North did not mess with the events in Lord of the Rings books & movies), or you say this happens before or after BOTW.
