And again, I'm sorry if there's already a thread like this.
As you can see, the title speaks for itself. My pick is 2001: for Halo, Ico, Metal Gear Solid 2, GTA III, and also for GameCube. What's your choice?
2000 with the advent of the PS2. The PS2 was the start to realistic graphics, and in my opinion, better, more concise commercials that get the point across.
2010 for me. There was such a large volume of amazing games coming out across all platforms. This year felt much slower in comparison with no support for the PSP and much less for the Wii and XBOX 360.
I can't even pretend to be unbiased because I've only ever bought Nintendo systems before 2006 so I'll avoid using the word "best." My favorite year in gaming (of the choices presented) by far was 2000. That year the N64 had Banjo Tooie, Majora's Mask, Paper Mario, Perfect Dark, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Considering that Majora's Mask is my favorite game of all time and Banjo Tooie is probably in my top ten, I'd say no other year had a chance for my vote.
Mario Kart 7, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Mario 3D Land, The 20 ambassador games, Pokemon Black and White, Portal 2, Sonic Generations, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom, etc.

This was a question that I thought about a lot. But I think that I'm going to have to say 2011. My reasons are because of Portal 2, Skyrim, Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Skyward Sword, and Sonic Generations. A close second for me was 2000 and third was 2007.
2011. It was a slow start to the year with a very strong finish. Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time 3DS, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Skyrim, etc. The Ambassador games for the 3DS were and added plus. I just can not remember another year since 2000 that I have excitedly anticipated the release of so many games.
