I thought Koopa Kid was stand in for Bowser Jr. There is confusion cuz in SMW II: Yoshi’s Island, Bowser Jr is just Bowser young, Mario is a baby in the game. But in Sunshine he became a child of Bowser like the Kooplings.
Actually Bowser Jr is not young Bowser, there's a difference between Baby Bowser and Bowser Jr. They're not the same person. Never have been.

Speaking of the Mario Party Games, I’d say the best ones were on Gamecube, though I loved Mario Party 2 on N64.

Mario Party 6 with the day and night gimmick was a fun way to make boards have alternates.

Mario Party 8 made good use of Wii controls, I had real Mario parties with that one, my friends coming over to play.

Definitely, Mario Party 6 is my favorite of the series. It's actually the one I started with.

Its probably my fav too cuz its so memorable and unique.

Mario Party 9 was my least fav cuz the board is linear, you get to end of it, when originally it was the game was timed and you collected as many stars as you could and Bowser or whoever might do something to shift the balance.

This is really hard as there are so many good options.

If I just use my nostalgia goggles I'd have to pick either the SNES or the N64 since those had such an awesome variety of timeless fun titles that took me right through my childhood and I still come back to.

In terms of taking gaming more mainstream the Wii was incredibly important and successful so it deserves an honourable mention for that reason alone despite not being one of my favourites on the list.

The Nintendo Switch from an objective standpoint is the best console in terms of hardware and it has done wonders for Nintendo after the failure of the Wii U. At first I was somewhat skeptical of merging two separate consoles (handheld and home) together into the one device going forward but at this point I am totally ocnvinced that it was a great decision and I've had so many great times playing on the Switch in recent years.

ngl, a bit surprised at how many people picked gamecube
Me too, but it did take the most risks with each franchise:

  • Luigi’s Mansion at launch, not Mario.
  • Mario Kart Double Dash which is most different in terms of gameplay.
  • Windwaker which was an art style that could alienate some fans and the seafaring aspect was unique.

Oh, I guess it was a very innovative era, yea.

I personally think the Wii was a massive revolution in gaming, so it probably earns the spot for me.
As honorable mentions - culturally speaking I'd say maybe the SNES; and the biggest upgrade maybe the N64.

The Wii brought s lot of casual gamers into the Nintendo fold. People who never played video games discovered the worlds we love and know, even Zelda. :)

I think this poll is more "which Nintendo system came out when you were between the ages of 6 and 10?" :crylaugh:
If you ran this same poll 10 years ago the N64 would likely have been rated highest, and the SNES highest if run 10 years before that. 10 years from now maybe people will be agree it was the Wii or Switch that was the greatest Nintendo system ever! Wii U might never quite make the cut, sadly...

As much as I love it, I have to note that the GameCube was a really low point for Nintendo, and in many ways for Nintendo fans too. The games came out slowly, 3rd party support was rapidly waning, and the system was in 3rd place far behind the PS2 for sales. Of course, there's some real gems on this platform that were well-loved and undoubtedly defined the childhoods of millions of players around the world, but purely from a, say, dispassionate viewpoint, GameCube sold poorly and had a fairly small game library. Afterall, the blue ocean strategy of the Wii was a direct response to the GameCube's bitter defeat when trying to compete purely on power and graphics.

I was born in the late 1980s, so of course my pick is SNES! It was the big new Nintendo console of the day during that impressionable young age, so of course my dearest childhood gaming memories are linked to it. Had a massive library of games that really pushed the envelope, too. Super Mario World, Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, Mario RPG... what treasures!
