Twilit wildcat: Aerofelis
I've been rolling ideas through my head about how life changes for the Skyloftians after SS, and how their colony on the surface operates. Link and Zelda would eventually start missing their friends, wouldnt they? The rest of them have to come down sometime... Add your own ideas if you have them.
Colony name and location
The goddess statue landed in Sealed Grounds. Since it's so important, it makes sense that the colony would also be there. But out with the old and in with the new, namewise. There's nothing evil "sealed" there anymore, so why call it Sealed Grounds? The name I came up with is Sacred Hollow, so that's the name I'm using. All the buildings are made out of the most readily available material in the forest: logs.
Loftwings
Yes, the loftwings stayed. They were too important to the culture to leave behind. Only now, loftwing ownership is restricted to the knights and leaders. Flying isnt the only method of transportation now, so it doesnt make sense for every common citizen to have a loftwing.
Colony self defense
The knights are getting a run for their money, with all the monsters around. Patrols of the surrounding woods are regular, but since the forest is WAY dangerous at night, nobody goes out of the colony after sundown. There's a lookout tower with a big light on it and an alarm system, but that's the only thing remotely close to a night patrol. Pipit's patrol time has been changed to evening. They couldn't just lay the poor boy off because of a location change. I doubt he was the only one with a patrol route in the first place though, just the only one we saw.
Leadership
King Link and Queen Zelda! Obvious...but I can't see either of them letting the fame go to their heads. I can see them having a royal council, as follows:
Elders: Gaepora, Owlan, Horwell. They won't have a specific job like the other council members. Instead they'll contribute when they're needed, like when a big decision needs to be made and the young ones can't decide.
Military Strategists/Tacticians: Pipit, Karane. If there's ever a war, these two will be the ones that come up with all the battle plans. But they won't just sit around on their butts while the others do the dangerous work. Think something like Soren from Fire Emblem...if you're unfamiliar with FE, Soren is a tactician, but he fights too.
Diplomats: Fledge, Stritch. These two are in charge of trying to reason with any hostiles before a war can start. If that doesn't work, then the strategists can start doing their job. Keep in mind that most monsters are impossible to reason with though...so this pretty much only applies to other kinds of threats.
Record Keeper: Cawlin. I figured that because of the letter sidequest, he'd be good at this. Writing down important events for future generations and etc.
Weapons Specialist: Groose. You saw how well the groosenator was built...he can put that skill to good use.
The young knights that are now on the council aren't limited to their council spots. They're still knights, and still have their loftwings and weapons and all that.

Kinda crappy, but works...since the timeline doesnt include year numbers, I had to guess.
Location descriptions
Sacred Hollow: The new home of the Skyloft humans. Formerly known as Sealed Grounds.
Deep Grove: The most overgrown portion of the forest. In some places, the trees are so thick that sunlight doesn't shine through.
Skyview Temple: Ruins located in Deep Grove. They apparently served an important purpose long ago.
Great Tree: The largest tree in the forest, located in the center of Faron Province.
Lake Floria: A large lake that is home to the Water Dragon Faron.
Ancient Cistern: Water from Lake Floria flows through this structure, and comes out the other side purified. The place is crawling with monsters, however.
Lava Dunes: A badland near the volcano. The soil is slippery sand, and there are lava rivers.
Earth Temple: Ruins at the base of the volcano. The name is a bit misleading, because there's more lava in there than anything.
Scorched Summit: Volcanic peaks that are home to the Fire Dragon Eldin.
Fire Sanctuary: A structure in Scorched Summit. The temperatures there are usually too hot for the average human to handle, so the majority of its visitors are mogma treasure hunters.
Death Mountain: The largest volcano in the area.
Sand Sea: A vast desert. Long ago, it was an ocean.
Parched Harbor: When the Sand Sea was an ocean, this was a bustling port. It is nothing but a tourist attraction now.
Mining Facility: A desert mine built over a deposit of timeshift stones.
Timeshift Canyon: Long ago, this was the center of the Lanayru Province's society. One can still see it in its glory days by activating a timeshift stone.
Lightning Gorge: A series of cliffs that are home to the Thunder Dragon Lanayru.
Farore Wetlands: A swamp area that is said to be watched over by the Goddess Farore.
Din Badlands: A parched area that is said to be watched over by the Goddess Din.
Nayru Highlands: A mountainous area that is said to be watched over by the Goddess Nayru.
Snowpeaks: A cold, mountainous area. Snow stays on the ground there year round.
