"How Was Toon Link Able to Pull the Master Sword Out?"

As you probably know, almost all Links that wield the Master Sword are implied to be related to the original (SS) Link. Their relation to the original wielder of the Master Sword grants them the ability to pull the Sword of Evil's Bane out of it's pedestal.

However, the King of Red Lions states that Link bears no relation to the Hero of Time. Thanks to Skyward Sword, we know that the HoT was not the first to wield the Master Sword.

While WW Link might've not been related to OoT Link, it could be possible that he is still a descendant of SS Link. After all, who said SS Link could only have one child?

So in conclusion; I believe that WW and OoT Link are both descendents of SS Link, but are not directly related.

Maybe it wasn't the same Master Sword? Think about it, OoT Link places the Master Sword back in the Pedestal of Time in the Child Timeline. So how did it reappear in the Adult Timeline? And what canonical reason can be given other than this for why it is shorter in WW?

Maybe it's the fact he needed it to stop Ganondorf. Also, did you forget he gets the Triforce of Courage, which ties him to the Master Sword. It's not exactly implied they're related, the Goddesses choose the hero of time, it has nothing to do with blood relation.

On the Pedestal in aLttP, it states that only one of the Knight's bloodline can draw the sword. And besides, WW Link gets the Fully Powered Master Sword before he obtains the Triforce of Courage.

@Hylian

Link's gauntlets, mirror shield, earrings, and tights didn't return with him when he was sent back. Why would the Master Sword? And besides even if the MS in WW is a different one, why would people forge a sword that's child size?

The Master Sword was longer in TP and SS than in previous games. Does that mean it's a separate weapon?

Because he was the chosen one. He was his destiny. Kinda like Arthur pulled out the Sword in the Stone whereas nobody else could.

I'm guessing you just read the title and not the actual post.

It didn't matter if he had any relations to oot Link because being the hero was not his first destiny. He earned his triforce because the Goddesses chose and tested his courage to see if he was worthy enough to be the hero. Think about it, oot Link was chosen by the goddesses to be the hero. Windwaker Link had to prove he was worthy and had enough courage to save his sister. once he did that, the King of red lions realized that he was the right person to stand up to Gannon. If the King of red lions saw nothing in toon link, than his sister would of never been saved or once she was saved, they will go back to Outset. If the king of red lions didn't think he was fix enough to defeat Gannon, he would have never gathered the 3 pearls whice proved to the godesses that Toon Link could be the recarination of the hero of time.

Claiming Link is a descendant of SS Link is a bit a stretch and actually goes against some of the story Nintendo put in WW. Yes, WW Link has no relation to OoT Link due to the split removing Link from the adult era. However, WW Link has to prove himself worthy to hold the Master Sword and complete the trials in the Tower of the Gods. That's why he was able to pull it.

Link doesn't place the Master Sword in the child timeline ending, he simply appears never having removed the sword and before he met Zelda. Remember Zelda fled the castle then Link removed the MS. In the ending, Zelda is still in the castle so MS was never removed. A new MS was not crafted. It is stated in game to be the one wielded by the Hero of Time.

I just how no one is actually humoring the possibility that WW Link may be related to SS Link.

@Fierce_Deity

Almost all Links had do complete some trails prior to wielding the Master Sword. SS Link had to do multiple Silent Realm trials in order to improve the sword, OoT Link had to gather all Spiritual Stones, TP Link had to solve some puzzle involving the statues, and aLttP had to gather all three pendents.

Actually..... the collecting of three items could symbolize SS Link's quest to obtain the Master Sword by receiving a blessing from each of the Goddesses. Perhaps to wield the Master Sword, the person had to follow in the foot steps of their predecessor.

Although he is not related to the Hero of Time, he did prove himself. He obantned all 3 pearls for his trials and maybe the sword recongnized him as a master and gave him the right to wield the blade.

Also Young Link from OoT was the same age as WW Link but Young Link was sealed away. It's completely possible that he is a decedent of SS Link but the Master Sword he wields could be completely different. That is unless Fi has the power to change the size and shape of the blade based solely on it's wielder and just felt Young Link wasn't mature enough to wield the blade. If that's true that means the sword chose to be weld by him from the very start and the King of Red Lions knew he could do it.

Personally, I believe that there was simply no time to lock Toon Link away for 7 years. Last time that happened, Ganondorf tore down Hyrule Castle and the land was thrown into chaos.

Perhaps Fi, if she's even conscious within the sword, did not want to make the same mistake twice.

You don't have to be related to the link in Oot to slay the master sword you just have to be the chosen one.

As far as we know, none of the Links are related to one another by blood. Each Link was born with the reincarnated spirit of SS Link.

Now, as to how Link was able to remove the Master Sword. Link didn't need to be an adult to remove the sword. He simply needed to complete a trial to prove that he was worthy to use the sword. The trial WW Link faced was the Tower of the Gods.

Note: I believe that Fi is the one who decides who is worthy to wield the sword. In TP Midna remarks that the MS accepted Link as it's master.

Collecting the Spiritual Stones weren't exactly trials in OoT as opposed to going through the Tower of the Gods and defeating Gohdan. Reason I say that is because Ruto would have given hers to Link in return for marriage. But instead she lost it and was captured. The Great Deku Tree may have given his to Link as well as the Gorons. Both may have tested Link on their on accord but none of things Link did to earn the Stones were the result of the Goddesses, etc but rather Ganons doings.

As for TP, the puzzle or Tower of the Gods (from an in game perspective)? AttP, according to this new 3rd split doesn't follow the bloodline of Links but rather the Knights of Hyrule. So this Link, I believe, is in the same position as the WW Link.
