Bowser's Fury and Majora's Mask

So in Bowser's Fury, there is something called Fury Bowser that spawns every 10 minutes or so and completely changes the way the entire world functions. The music goes soft, the sky darkens, the massive looming ink-covered Bowser shell shoots into the sky and begins to spin. Then, a colossal Bowser terrorizes the entirety of the land and completely transforms the way you have to think about the game. This central Bowser entity haunts the entire game and leads to heightened awareness, anxiety, and focus.

This is a very similar mechanic to that of the moon in Majora's Mask. The anxiety that you get on the last six hours of the third night when the entire world changes, the music becomes haunting, and you can see this massive threat in the sky above you; it's roughly the same as when Bowser transforms. Imagine Bowser's Fury with NPCs freaking out as Fury Bowser shoots into the sky and shoots mile-long blazes of concentrated fire into their towns and homes. You basically have Majora's Mask.

Do you think Nintendo stole that gameplay feeling of the moon crashing into Termina and destroying the world and the looming threat it poses and applied it to Bowser's Fury? And are there any other games you can think of that has a similar central, anxiety-inducing, world-changing mechanic?
