zos_co_Legend_of_Zelda_Ocarina_of_time_Ocarina_Front-_Brown_large Several weeks ago, we introduced you guys to the ZeldaOcarinaStore, an online Zelda memorabilia store. ZoS even teamed up with Zelda Dungeon to give one of you lucky readers a chance to win a $100 voucher redeemable at ZoS.co! Unfortunately, the winner we chose did not step up to accept their prize. With that being said, we decided to announce a new winner and to share with you guys our thoughts on some of the ZoS merchandise the staff got their hands on. Make the jump to see if you’re the new winner and to allow us here at ZD to help you do a little window shopping if you’re not sure what you’d like to get from ZoS yourself!

First, let’s announce a new winner for the ZoS giveaway. The winner of the $100 voucher for the ZoS store is:

Nikki!

Congrats, Nikki! If you’d like to receive your prize, please leave an email address for me in the comments below. Feel free to make a temporary email just for this occasion.

Now on to the product review! Three of us staffers here at Zelda Dungeon got our hands on a few pieces from ZeldaOcarinaStore’s collection, and we wanted to review them so that you guys would know what to look forward to if you decided to buy something from ZoS!

First of all, the shipping was quick and the packaging was amazing. Everything was so carefully packaged, I could really tell that the guys at ZoS wanted me to get my goodies in one piece, and that’s something I really appreciate.

zos_co_Legend_of_Zelda_Ocarina_of_time_Ocarina_Front-_Brown_large The item I knew I must have was the 12-hole Ocarina of Time replica. However, it’s not just a replica. This hand crafted, ceramic beauty is also playable! ZoS even sent me a small guide with various songs from the Zelda series and shows you how to play them on the ocarina. I originally got this item because I wanted it to be displayed with the rest of my Zelda collection, but now I think I’ve found something new that I’m going to try to learn and share with some of my other Zelda fanatic friends. I never considered learning to play the ocarina before I got this Ocarina of Time replica.

SizeGuide_copy23_large The second item I got were the 18k gold plated Triforce earrings. I actually don’t wear earrings all that often because the nickel in most earrings tend to irritate my ears. These, however, I’ve worn almost every day since I got them and they haven’t bothered my ears even once. They’re the perfect size, not too small, not too big and chunky, and they sit very nicely on my ears. I can imagine these for girls and guys- who have ear piercings, of course- because they’re beautifully subtle, and I know they’re something I’m really going to take care of and use for a very long time.

That’s another thing that I feel is great about ZoS’s merchandise. Everything is so well made and taken care of that they’re going to last a long time. Sometimes I find merchandise that breaks or wears down after a short time, but I truly feel that I’ll be able to use and share this memorabilia for years and years to come.

ZoS_co_Navi_Fair_zelda_Necklace_-_BlueGold_-_Side_copy_fa8ff10b-21d8-4159-878e-eac6641f1620_large The final product that I will review is the 28k gold plated Navi necklace. Navi is my favorite companion throughout the Zelda series, and ZoS recently launched this new product featuring the lovably annoying fairy. She has a beautiful blue gem for the body and elegant golden wings- the necklace also comes in silver- and wearing it almost makes me feel like I’ve got a companion with me on all my adventures too!

The first thing I saw, of course, were the bags the clips and such came in. I must say, the golden “ZoS” and Majora’s Mask designs are high-quality and eye-catching, and I would be happy to store other things in them.

ZoS_co_Master_Sword_Tie_Clip_-_Gold_Plated_large As for the items themselves, I was pleasantly surprised by the intricate detail on the face of the Master Sword Tie Clip, from the hilt’s ridges to the blade’s Triforce engraving. I liked that the sword took up the entirety of the visible part of the clip. It is a clever design. That being said, I am not a big fan of the actual holding power of the clip itself. It does not fall off or anything, but the holding point is small, so it is possible for the whole clip to pivot on that holding point if it is not entirely over my tie. Other than that, I am very satisfied.

ZoS_co_Triforce_Tie_Clip_-_Gold_Plated_-_Side_largeThe Triforce Tie Clip is likely my favorite item I received from the store. As with the Master Sword clip, the only issue is its tendency to shift around a bit on the tie, but only a little. It is certainly made up for in looks. The clean, smooth face of the clip compliments the cleverly off-centre, gold-plated Triforce. The Triforce itself sparkles lightly when shined on, and stands out quite well against my tie. I really do like it a lot.

ZoS_Triforce_Cufflinks_Pair_-_Side-Recovered_copy_large The Triforces on the Triforce Cuff Links are noticeably thicker than the one on the tie clip, likely making them stand out that extra little bit on one’s cuffs. I am sure they would look great if worn alongside the Triforce Tie Clip, as they have matching gold plating with just as much sparkle and sheen. The turning joints on the links are sturdy and proper, so I really have no complaints.

il_570xN_495201369_mens Finally, there is the Triforce Pin. This pin’s Triforce is as thin as the one on the tie clip, but is also slightly smaller. Personally, I would think that they should all be of equal size, especially one that is on a pin, as pins are meant to be worn front and center on you. A better point is that the holding point of the pin’s stub is strong, unlike many pins, which often shift around. It also seems to have ever so slightly less sheen to it, as compared to the tie clip or cuff links of the same Triforce design. It was certainly worth the price, but this one is noticeably, but only slightly, less impressive than the other Triforce-designed items, again, mainly because of the fact that a pin is something that draws eyes quickly.

When taking a look at all the goodies that the ZoS store had to offer, one of the first things that caught Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 10.01.27 PMmy attention was the Goron Bracelet Ring! I have several different Zelda inspired pieces and I absolutely loved the simplicity and uniqueness of the piece, so I knew I needed to get my hands on one. When my package arrived I was not disappointed at all! The first thing that I absolutely loved was the attention to detail of the ring. I chose mine in the Premium Steel option, the steel was smooth and brilliantly polished and the center cutout was precise and well done. The ring came nicely packaged as well, which I immensely appreciate. Not only was it well packaged and protected but it also came with a very nice little cinch bag that comes embossed with the ZoS logo and Majora’s Mask and is a perfect storage place to keep my beautiful new ring nice and safe!

Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 10.09.27 PMThe second item I received was the 18k gold plated triforce necklace. This piece also came with the nice little cinch bag but this time with just the ZoS logo and they even placed two other bags inside to make sure the chain didn’t scratch the pendant in transit — to me this just really shows the attention to detail they have and the thought process that goes into simply shipping your merchandise. The Triforce pendant itself is of a very similar quality to the ring with the gold plated steel being very smooth, even along all of the edges. The chain included with the pendant is of the perfect length to lay just about an inch below my collar bone. I am definitely going to now need to get my hands on the steel version as well!

My last item was also the Triforce pin which I also got in the gold plated. This one however has a nice Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 10.16.58 PMsomewhat brushed finish so it is not as shiny as the Triforce pendant.  The pin comes with the traditional backing for a pin and seems to secure quite nicely to my bag. I travel quite a bit and absolutely love attaching pins to my travel bag or messenger bag, some of my most favorite I also put on my most favorite jacket — I might have to get the steel version of this as well for that jacket! It is also finished very smoothly along all the edges and I really like the fact that they have colored in the middle with a glossy black finish as opposed to leaving it open, I feel as if it makes it look much more polished that way. The metal is a slight bit thinner that the pendant and ring but it makes sense since it is a pin and won’t see as much wear and tear as the other pieces and overall still feels quite sturdy.
