l If you had to guess, what would you say the Hylian shield is made out of? Obviously it’s unlike many of Link’s other shields we’ve seen thoughout the franchise, as most of them are made of wood. The Hylian Shield is definitely made from some kind of metal. However, there are so many different kinds of metal, which one is the most probable for a shield as powerful as the one that bares the Hylian Crest? Make the jump to hear a theory on the matter.

YouTube user Dr. Wily and friend speculate in this video different theories as to what the Hylian Shield could possibly be made from. One of the first assumptions Dr. Wily brings up is steel. He quickly casts steel aside, though, as it’s weak and rather heavy, which would be impractical for Link’s seemingly indestructible shield. Iron is also ruled out for being too weak. The one metal that Dr. Wily believes is strong enough to be what makes up the Hylian Shield is titanium. Titanium is nearly indestructible and has the power to deflect almost anything, even magic in the Zelda universe. It would make sense, as Dr. Wily points out in his video, why only Hyrulian Knights were seen with these shields and not other soldiers as titanium is pretty expensive. It’s still very surprising that a shield that powerful can be simply picked up at a Hyrule Bizarre, though.

What do you guys think? Is titanium the most plausible metal to make up the Hylian Shield? Can you think of something stronger? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
