Zelda Theory Investigates the Possibilities of a Breath of the Wild Sequel

A little over a year has passed since the release of Breath of the Wild. Now that most people have played through and have defeated Calamity Ganon multiple times, it’s time to talk about what’s next. Series producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that the next Zelda title has already begun development, so now rampant speculation has begun. We’re looking at a part of that speculation today, as one fan has a theory to a sequel to Breath of the Wild.
Theorist EdibleIncredible recently looked into what could be in a potential Zelda sequel that takes place shortly after the events of Breath of the Wild. They speculate that, due to what Princess Zelda talks to Link about after defeating Calamity Ganon, there could be a possible story already in place that’s a continuation in this specific Hyrule.
Edible believes that the next antagonist will not be Ganon, but another well-known villain in the series that could fit the role (like Vaati). This in turn would also be a good way of incorporating more unique dungeons as seen in previous Zelda titles. He also theorizes that the sequel could incorporate a partner of sorts to help Link out. They think that maybe a companion like Midna, or even an ally like Princess Zelda (she could incorporate magic attacks, etc.), would be a nice addition.
What do you think of this theory? Would you like a sequel or a prequel to Breath of the Wild? Let us know in the comments below!
