Since its release, Breath of the Wild has sparked significant debate over its placement in the official Zelda timeline. Fans have vigorously searched for clues that will reveal the game’s spot in the series’ chronology, and quite a few theories have already found traction among the community. But beyond the countless timeline discussions, Breath of the Wild has also initiated speculation on the future of the Zelda franchise overall. Leading theorist NintendoBlackCrisis recently shared his thoughts on how the Breath of the Wild‘s timeline placement could affect the series’ future and how many stories are left to be told in The Legend of Zelda.
Using Breath of the Wild‘s timeline placement as a jumping-off point, NintendoBlackCrisis speculates on where the Zelda series could be headed. While this video touches on several different topics, it primarily focuses on Zelda‘s future as signaled by Link’s latest adventure through Hyrule. Based on dialogue from both the Japanese and English versions of the game, NintendoBlackCrisis speculates on Ganondorf’s role as the series’ primary antagonist moving forward. The theorist also discusses the possibility of the Zelda franchise branching off into even more timelines, using the subject of time travel and a bit of math to determine a number of potential stories left to be told.
Obviously as long as we fans continue to support the series, The Legend of Zelda will continue to thrive. What did you think of NintendoBlackCrisis’ video? Do you have any thoughts on the future of the series? Let us know down below.
