Some collectors may be disappointed this weekend when picking up their copies of Skyward Sword HD. Due to what Nintendo is calling “unforeseen shipping delays”, the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo intended to be released alongside the game will be in short supply at release.

The following statement was provided by Nintendo of America:

“The Zelda & Loftwing amiibo figure is currently impacted by unforeseen shipping delays. As a result, only a small portion of the Zelda & Loftwing will be available on its scheduled July 16 launch date. Additional shipments are delayed until August. We will ship additional amiibo to retailers as soon as they arrive.”

This likely means that some fans who placed a pre-order for the amiibo won’t be able to get their hands on it until next month. Nintendo also claims that this will not impact the availability of other amiibo figures.

Despite the aforementioned supply delay, however, some customers are reporting that their Zelda & Loftwing amiibo have shipped without issue. We recommend that you check your specific pre-order status to confirm whether or not you’ll receive your amiibo on time.

While amiibo collectors are sure to be upset for obvious reasons, this delay will also affect many players jumping into Skyward Sword HD at release. The Zelda & Loftwing amiibo offers a significant quality-of-life feature when paired with the remastered gameThe amiibo grants Link the ability to return to the sky from any place at any time without having to use one of the save points. It also allows Link to return to the same location it was used. Unfortunately, many players who expected to have immediate access to this feature will have to wait a little longer.

Were you planning on getting this amiibo? Have you been impacted by this delay? Let us know in the comments below!
