Zelda-Inspired Action Adventure Game “Baldo” Receives New Gameplay Trailer
Posted on May 22 2019 by John Piland
The first gameplay trailer has just dropped for the upcoming Zelda-like game Baldo. Developed by Italian studio NAPS Team (the folks behind the Gekido series), this gorgeous action adventure game began life as an unfinished Game Boy Advance title and has since been reworked in the Unity engine for a release on modern systems.
With puzzle and combat features taken right out of Zelda and beautiful cel-shaded visuals inspired by Studio Ghibli films, the inspirations behind this game are ever so apparent. Baldo‘s new trailer shows off creatures resembling the Robot from “Castle in the Sky” and the cats from “The Cat Returns”, as well as monsters which seem to take inspiration from The Legend of Zelda, such as Stalfos and Lizalfos. And, much like the Zelda franchise, Baldo has no shortage of varying environments, from snowy mountains and scorching deserts, to market towns and ancient ruins. The plot of the game remains a mystery, but the trailer presents a sprawling fantasy adventure that’s sure to appeal to Zelda fans.
Baldo is expected to release on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. There is currently no set release date. You can learn more on the game’s official Twitter account here.

John has been a Zelda fan for over 10 years now and is proud to say the series has had a major impact on his life (and wallet). After years of going to Zelda Dungeon for guides or the latest news on the series, John achieved their dream when they joined the writing team in 2019; John can hardly believe how long it’s been. A librarian, he loves meticulously arranging his library of Zelda games and collectibles. After what felt like an eternity of waiting for Tears of the Kingdom, John looks forward to the future of the Zelda franchise with enthusiasm, whether that’s the upcoming movie, a new spin-off/remake, or the next big game.
