Zelda Informer Versus: Best Dungeon Tournament – Round 0 – Week Three Recap

Hello there, ZI fans. Every Zelda game is finally represented as we conclude Round 0 of our Best Dungeon tournament. This week alone featured some of the series’ biggest hitters, including Skyward Sword and the newly-released Breath of the Wild. Interestingly, this week also saw the lowest trafficked poll with Tri Force Heroes, as many fans never played the game let alone finished it.

Now, Week Three did bring up some interesting questions regarding what qualities define a dungeon in the Zelda series. Perhaps the biggest debate currently raging in the comments regards Hyrule Castle from Breath of the Wild, which is so unique in its presentation that some don’t even consider it a proper dungeon where others do. Multiplayer games Four Swords Adventures and Tri Force Heroes also sparked some discussions regarding their levels as dungeons. We decided to exclude certain levels from the tournament, but some fans opined that these stages should be considered dungeons. We knew this tournament would get fans talking, but we had no idea it would spark debate on the nature of dungeons in general.

  • The Wind Waker: Earth Temple. Winner, polls closed.
  • Four Swords Adventures: Temple of Darkness. Winner, polls closed.
  • The Minish Cap: Palace of Winds. Winner, polls closed.
  • Twilight Princess: Arbiter’s Grounds. Winner, polls closed.
  • Phantom Hourglass: Ghost Ship. Polls close October 16th. (Vote Here)

  • We will post a new game’s voting page each day, Monday through Saturday.
  • Voting for each game will be open for exactly one week.
  • Every Sunday, we will post a wrap-up article explaining the results of the prior week.
  • Once voting pages for all 18 mainline Zelda games have been posted, there will be a two-week break before Round 1 begins.
