Welcome to another edition of the Zelda Fanart Spotlight. Today’s we are taking a look at a digital painting from Mexican artist R-SRaven. It features a touching portrait of Malon and Epona called Bring him back safely. The title helps tell the story of the painting, as Malon does what she can to help the Hero of Time on his journey and prepares Epona for the next time Link calls on her.

Although the artist describes this as a quick painting, he has added a great amount of detail especially to Malons face and is what we are immediately drawn to. The morning sun bathes them both in warm rays of light. Having the light source coming from behind them, as well as the cropped composition that leaves everything else besides Malon and Epona helps create a very candid scene between the two figures that grew up together. Epona’s trusting glance at her caretaker is a look that every animal owner knows well.

R-SRaven has actually been on a Zelda Fanart drawing spree during the last few weeks, and says that there is more to come. I highly recommend checking out the rests of his work on his DeviantART page which includes epic digital works of Link having a showdown with several enemies like Dark Link and Demise, as well as some more finished and hyper detailed original work.
