Nintendo and LEGO continued to expand their partnership beyond the Super Mario Bros. series earlier this year with the announcement of The Great Deku Tree 2-In-1 Set bringing the world of The Legend of Zelda to brick-building fans. As a LEGO and Zelda enthusiast, I am excited about the possibilities for future sets beyond this initial celebration of our leafy friend from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. Over the last few years, my son and I have thoroughly enjoyed building display pieces which have been born out of this joint venture between Nintendo and LEGO, such as The Mighty Bowser, Nintendo Entertainment System, and Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block.

In the meantime, creative fans have sought to fill the gap with their own imaginative blocky constructions. One such creator, hachiroku24, has literally given us the Moon, albeit a chunky, plastic version of it with a menacing face. In their video on YouTube, they provide abbreviated step-by-step instructions of how to construct the celestial sphere from Majora’s Mask all on your own. The video has no talking and lo-fi music in the background. So, if you’re fond of ASMR, the oddly soothing and pleasant sounds that LEGO bricks make when clicking into place may be perfect for you.

Less of a perfect sphere, the moon is constructed of six domed faces with internal connections. In the video, they reference Deep Shen’s technique for creating rounded objects with LEGO. Five of the six gray domed faces are identical in a light gray hue peppered with darker gray spots. The sixth unique domed face bears the image of the sinister eyes, decayed teeth, and jagged nose that looms over Termina. The instructional video also includes a stand to suspend the Moon over your display surface.

hachiroku24’s YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok pages also include a plethora of other videos and photos about LEGO sets from iconic video game, movie, and comic book series. If you’re a LEGO-lover, definitely check out their content.
