Zelda Artist Exposition: LilSongstress

Welcome everyone to Zelda Artist Exposition! Readers, you probably know the drill by now but if not I will explain the idea. This series of features was created to expose Zelda-centric artists who deserve more recognition or are just incredibly talented in general. If you have an artist you would like to see featured, I am all ears. All I ask is that they have at least three pieces of artwork relating to the Legend of Zelda series. Today’s featured artist is the lovely and creative LilSongstress.

Over the course of her busy five years on deviantART, R. Marie Epperson, LilSongstress’s real name, has uploaded 675 pieces to her gallery. In that time Epperson has received 3,436 comments, 22,691 pageviews, but only 189 watchers, which I think is appalling. She works very frequently and very hard and deserves much more love from the community than she gets.

Her drawings might not be as polished as other artists, but they are undeniably unique. I think her art reflects a very personal style even if it is not your cup of tea. She has changed her style of coloring and anatomy several times, but most of the work stays fairly recognizable. Her Zelda pieces vary across a couple games with a predominant theme being the shipping of Link and Midna, which I have always been a fan of. Another good point is that many of the other pieces are very Princess Zelda-centric along with her focus on the Twilight Princess.

Aside from her drawing, which is all that is featured here, Epperson is largely an avid cosplayer and crafter and has a substantial portion of her gallery devoted to things besides drawing.
