Hey guys! Zelda Artist Exposition is back! On the off chance you noticed an absence of these editorials the past few weeks, I apologize. Briefly falling ill, combined with a vacation, created some unfortunate circumstances every time I tried to write. However, things should be back to normal. Anyway, that is not important, but the art is! If you do not know about this series, although you can probably guess what it is all about, it is a series I created to feature great artists of Zelda artwork that I write every other week. Suggestions are more than welcome in the comments. This week’s artist is Gahiko.
Gahiko is a student, digital artist who has been on deviantART for only four months. She is pretty unknown at the moment with only 66 watchers, but hopefully this feature can get her some more watchers and recognition.
She has uploaded 33 deviations so far with varying subject matter. Along with the Zelda work, there are some incredibly diverse original pieces and great fan artwork other than Zelda of subjects such as Shingeki no Kyojin. Gahiko’s style drew my gaze for many reasons. Firstly, her use of color. The pieces burst with color and vibrance. All her pieces, even darker ones, easily catch your attention based purely on how much they stand out. Second, her diversity. Her styles tend to differ even though they still have a trademark kind of look. Thirdly and most significantly, the complexity in her art. Her work brims with thought and texture. Every part of a work is poised. They appear meticulously layered and polished. In addition to this, her ideas are also marvelously imaginative. Even some of her Zelda fan art not featured here branches off into different takes on characters.
Below are some of her best Zelda works. The last piece, the Majora’s Mask, is my personal favorite.
I hope you guys enjoyed the feature. I believe Gahiko has great potential. Please check out her page below and give your support.
