We’ve covered a lot of really cool Zelda-inspired titles here at Zelda Dungeon, but Mika and the Witch’s Mountain has to be my favorite that I’ve had the pleasure of covering. Created by developer Abraham Cozar, Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is an indie title that will be soaring to consoles and Steam later in 2023. This coming-of-age story takes you all across the sky as aspiring witch, Mika, as you soar on your broomstick, delivering packages to the island’s many residents.

The game’s major mechanic is flying across the island in this relaxing and lighthearted tale. Mika delivers packages to the residents, and they rate her delivery service in exchange for money with which you can upgrade your broomstick for new flying abilities. As Mika journeys to the top of the mountain, she has the opportunity to use magical air currents that flow from the heart of the mountain. Using these currents will allow you to explore every part of the island so you can meet new characters, take on new quests, and discover the island’s many secrets.

Upon looking at the game’s logo, I noticed that it is using the very same font that The Wind Waker uses! The game’s creator cites Kiki’s Delivery Service from Studi Ghibli and The Wind Waker as prime references for this fascinating tale about a young witch. The Wind Waker had a heavy influence in the games coloring and is stated as “a great visual reference” for the game. The story and artwork featured in the details of the Kickstarter blend the two together beautifully, and I personally can’t wait to see this game come to life. The digital art style of the game also gives heavy Wind Waker vibes, and I love to see an indie title taking influence from one of the best Zelda games in the series.

You can find all of the details about Mika and the Witch’s Mountain right here. As of writing, the game is now 100% backed in Kickstarter at $54,015 USD. If you want to back the game, though, there is still plenty of time! The Kickstarter lasts until March 4th! There are a myriad of rewards and stretch goals for backers, so be sure to check them out! Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is expected to launch late 2023.
