Zol is an enemy in the Zelda Series frequently featured in 2D titles.

Legend of Zelda

In The Legend of Zelda, Zols are common in beginner dungeons, most prominent in The Eagle. When attacked with the Wooden Sword, or any weapon with the same strength, it splits into two Gels. Otherwise, it is killed.

Skyward Sword

Zols appear in a red gelatinous form in Skyward Sword. They will crawl towards Link, trying to ram their body into him. When hit with a sword, they will split into two smaller enemies called Gels. Gels look just like Zols, except they are much smaller in size.Gels are unable to harm you, but attach themselves to you, slowing your movements. If left alone, two smaller Gels will merge together to form another Zol.

Blue Zol's are the same as their red cousins. It is unknown at the moment what the difference is, other than their color.
