Map is missing all icons...?

I came back from dinner to update some pins for Korok Seeds, loaded up the map to find that it's not displaying anything. Been hitting refresh and closing my browser for at good ten minutes. Everything was there--shrines, seeds, quests, settlement icons, etc.--approximately an hour ago.

EDIT: Ah, nevermind. Everything is back. I guess it was refreshing itself? Problems always fix themselves the moment I open my mouth!

@Nathrien - When people add pins, if they typo or make other errors, it will block all pins from working. Many editors such as myself monitor and correct these errors when they occur and then it works again. This has happened several times since we started.

How do I add a pin?

Heya I found a Korok Seed that wasn't shown on the map yet and am trying to add a pin to it...could I get some help please? :o the preceding unsigned post by Josie94 (contribs) at 00:29, March 19, 2017‎ (UTC)

Sure. Just edit this page and add a new line to the bottom like {{Pin/Seed|lat|lng|nearest landmark|ID}} - make an ID one higher than the last line. There are more instructions here if you want to add an image and more info about the seed. << Locke(T·C) >> 01:47, March 19, 2017 (UTC)
To find the right lat and lng to use, click on the map to drop a pin, and drag it to the precise location of the seed. It'll tell you the coordinates for that point. << Locke(T·C) >> 01:48, March 19, 2017 (UTC)

Partial Image Corruption

Two image files in the map appear to have small levels of corruption displaying white spot blobs, I can confirm this defect is carried over to lower levels of zoom, at level 5 the offending files are: 23-11 and 22-19. I have manually fixed the images on the fifth level of zoom and could provide them if necessary but it'd be better if whoever got the originals could re-rip them without the corruption. Furthermore I can assert this are the two only occurrences of this type of corruption (white overwriting the values underneath and some chromatic aberration on the white). Thanks for pointing that out! Fortunately the base file I have doesn't have the corruptions so I was able to re-cut those sections. << Locke(T·C) >> 04:29, March 24, 2017 (UTC)

Additional Pin Types

Hello,

I'm not sure if this has already been considered, but I think it would be a great idea to add some additional pin types. The biggest one that comes to mind is a pin type for guardian stalkers. I'm currently farming these things and I've used up pretty much all my in game pins marking guardian locations. Another thing that might be nice to add would icons for specific types of treasure. The category "Treasure" is really broad and being used to death. Anyways, thanks for your consideration. ShadowCat (talk) March 30, 2017

This would require new icons to be created, but I personally could see the merit of a much more in-depth community-created map of these features, including such items as in-world weapon spawn points. A casual reminder that the Royal Claymore atop the Woodland Tower, like all in-world weapon spawns, respawns with every Blood Moon and as such is an excellent destination for replenishing equipment during midgame. I've also put a stamp at the Akkala labyrinth to remind myself of a Great Flameblade spawning location... now I don't have to feel bad about USING them. --Greymaria (talk) 03:34, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
Many people have been adding 'treasure' which aren't chests but are weapons in the world. If we weren't using these icons for bosses, I would want to use the sword/shield/bow icons, I assume that's what they're meant for. However, I don't like map clutter. Weapons respawn and there's plenty of them in the game. It would be equivalent to mapping every enemy, mushroom, lizard, and butterfly. Potentially helpful when you need a butterfly, but man would it clutter up the map when you don't. Thortok2000 (talk) 10:44, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
That Great Flameblade, seriously! I think I still have the same one I first found, and in brand new condition. So great for starting fires (I know of a few other places to find it too btw). Didn't realize Blood Moon was what respawned weapons, thanks for that :) Anyways, yes I considered new icons would need to be created, and I agree to retasking the sword, shield, and bow icons to what they actually represent. And true the map could get really with all the food/animal type items, unfortunately it kind of already is with all of the "treasure". If icons for food/animals are added, they would probably only want to show at the highest zoom level. And it might be a good idea to add separate icons for food and animals. Regarding clutter, the way I see it is that legend is there for a reason. I typically don't look at the map with everything turned on, so for me it never feels cluttered. Maybe keeping the sword/shield/bow at the highest zoom level would also help to declutter. I guess my main question is, if we go ahead and create new icons, is this something that can reasonably be implemented? I can help create icons, but beyond that all this wiki stuff is really new to me.--ShadowCat (talk) 19:34, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
There's two main issues. One is that the more icons we have, the more layers we have, the bigger the legend gets, and it's already pretty much at the maximum. The second is that we're trying to use in-game art for every icon. We're one of (if not) the only interactive maps to do such a thing. Breaking that standard is a major change and actually feels like a step backward. Other than those issues, adding another category, mapping that category to a pin, and adding pins, would be very easy. Thortok2000 (talk) 19:44, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
A second map showing these very precise details instead of the main features our current map shows could alleviate some of the clutter. After all, not everyone's interested in every single Rusty Halberd. Additionally, don't weapons and resources already have 2D images? If a sufficiently large portion of the community is willing to put in the time to comb Hyrule, I'd agree with letting them have at it. Barring that, we could simply discuss notable weapon spawns and one-time containers found within regions a la Korok seeds. --Greymaria (talk) 02:38, April 1, 2017 (UTC)
