Woods of Winter

The Woods of Winter is a location in Oracle of Seasons. Link will travel to the Woods of Winter early on in his quest on his journey to the second dugneon, Snake's Remains. The Woods of Winter, as its name suggests, is a wooded region filled with a variety of trees, including several Tree Stumps.

Location

The Woods of Winter are first accessed from the Eastern Suburbs, which can be found to the southwest of the Woods. The Eyeglass Lake borders the Woods to the west, and there is a single entrance to this region. At the northwest corner of the Woods, there is a passage that leads to Moblin's Keep. However, it is only accessible during the Spring when the Blast Bloom is available for use. The Samasa Desert can be found to the south, and the Sunken City can be found to the north. However, there is no direct Overworld access between these regions.

Features

Despite its name the default seasons of the Woods of Winter are Summer and Autumn. This is likely thanks to Onox, who has thrown the seasons of Holodrum into chaos. After Link acquires the Rod of Seasons, he will be able to make the season change to Winter, which due to ice freezing over, and the branches of trees falling, gives Link access to much of the Woods.

It is in the Woods of Winter where Link first meets Rosa, and finds the first portal to Subrosia. It is also where Link will find second dungeon, Snake's Remains. Unfortunately the entrance becomes blocked when the season is changed to winter so Link must use a Shovel to get rid of the snow.

Snake's Remains

The Snake's Remains is the second dungeon featured within Oracle of Seasons and it is the main attraction found within the Woods of Winter. The dungeon is located right in the middle of the Woods, but Link will first need to navigate almost the entirety of the woods to reach it. Inside the dungeon, Link will acquire the Power Bracelet, which gives him the ability to lift up certain objects and enemies. Link will battle with the mini-boss in the form of the Facade and the dungeon boss Dodongo. As a reward, Link will get a full Heart Container as well as the second Essence of Nature, the Gift of Time.

Items

The Woods of Winter contain three items, the Mystery Seeds, and the Shovel. The Mystery Seeds are located below the area leading to the second dungeon, the Shovel can be obtained from a lady in a house, located at the Northeast corner of the woods, and the Piece of Heart can be found at Southeast corner of the woods, it can only be obtained after getting the Power Bracelet.
