"You caught # Woodland Rhino Beetle! Collectors often polish the hard carapaces of these beetles to make them tougher. It's the strongest of all the insects."

— In-game Description[1]

The Woodland Rhino Beetle is one of several collectible insects found within the Sealed Grounds, Faron Woods and the Deep Woods in Skyward Sword.[2] Unlike most bugs in the game, Link does not need a Bug Net to catch this creature. Link can simply roll into the wall, causing the bug to fall to the ground where he can then collect it.[3][4] They are used mainly in upgrading Potions, specifically the Heart Potion and the Revitalizing Potion.

  2. "Oh...if you want to infuse that potion, I'm afraid you're still one ingredient short. The brew still needs a light dusting of Woodland Rhino Beetle. According to my secret infuser's handbook, these can be found within heavily wooded areas." — Bertie, Skyward Sword.
  3. "You are located in the northeastern area of the Sealed Grounds. An ancient forest remains here, seemingly preserved in time. The Woodland Rhino Beetle makes its home here. If you roll into a wall and cause it to shake, it will likely fall down. You can then capture the bug." — Fi, Skyward Sword.
  4. "Species name: Woodland Rhino Beetle Sensitivity to human presence: 60% Usable as a potion ingredient. Roll into a wall or other object to knock this insect down. This strategy increases your chance to catch this insect by 50%." — Fi, Skyward Sword.
