Allows Link to run without using stamina

Whistle Sprinting is a technique used in Breath of the Wild. Performing this technique will allow Link to travel on foot at nearly the same speed as running without using any stamina. Link also regains stamina while performing this technique.

How-To Perform

  • Hold the whistle button (d-pad down) and repeatedly tap the sprint button (B) while moving.
  • A common hand position for this technique is to use your left thumb to hold d-pad down while using your left index finger to move the left control stick.
  • Another hand position is to use your right thumb or index finger to hold d-pad down and use one of your other right fingers to tab B.

Uses

  • Since Whistle Sprinting is slightly slower than normal sprinting, you can maximize the speed at which Link travels on foot by alternating between the two. Run (hold B) until Link is almost out of stamina, then Whistle Sprint until the stamina wheel is full, then return to a normal run.
  • Link is able to Whistle Sprint up portions of cliffs that are sloped. This allows Link to regain stamina while holding his position on a cliff or even climbing higher. This allows Link to climb many types of cliffs without using stamina recharge food or Revali's Gale.
  • In speedruns, Whistle Sprinting is allowed in all Normal and Bug-Limit categories.
