Wallets are recurring items in The Legend of Zelda series. They are bags for holding Rupees.

Ocarina of Time

When Link is a child, his first wallet - never shown - holds up to a maximum of 99 Rupees. Once Link has defeated 10 Gold Skulltulas and saved the first child in the House of Skulltula, he is rewarded with the Adult's Wallet, which holds up to 200 Rupees. Once Link has defeated 30 Gold Skulltulas, he is given the Giant's Wallet, which holds up to 500 Rupees, by the third child.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, Link has 99 Rupees to start with. When Link goes to West Clock Town and deposits 200 Rupees, he is rewarded with the Adult Wallet, which holds up to 200 Rupees. The final wallet can be found in the Oceanside Spider House in Great Bay Coast. Once Link has defeated all 30 Gold Skulltulas, he is rewarded with the Giant Wallet, which stores up to 500 Rupees.

The Wind Waker

In The Wind Waker, Link's first wallet holds up to 200 Rupees, or 500 Rupees in the HD version. The first upgrade can be acquired in the forest on Outset Island. Link must blow up the boulder with a bomb to enter the Great Fairy Fountain. Once Link is there, he is rewarded with a wallet that holds up to 1,000 Rupees. The next and final upgrade can be acquired in the Northern Fairy Island. Once Link enters the Great Fairy Fountain there, he is rewarded with a wallet that holds up to 5,000 Rupees.

The Minish Cap

The default wallet in The Minish Cap holds 99 rupees. Three upgrades are available, to 300, 500 and 999 rupee capacities respectively.

In no particular order, since they each upgrade one step rather than to any specific capacity, the upgrades can be obtained:

  • From Stockwell's Shop for 80 rupees.
  • From the Great Butterfly Fairy. Promise to give her all of Link's rupees, and she will upgrade his wallet without requiring actual payment.
  • After fusing kinstones with Mayor Hagen, a small pond of water will dry up in Lon Lon Ranch revealing a staircase. Opening the chest in the revealed grotto will upgrade Link's wallet.

Twilight Princess

While in Ordon Village, before Link goes out on his quest to Castle Town, his wallet is unnamed, and holds a maximum capacity of 300 Rupees, or 500 Rupees in the HD version. When Link reaches Castle Town, he can visit Agitha's Castle and be asked to find Golden Bugs. Once Link has collected one Golden Bug and given it to Agitha, he receives the Big Wallet, which holds up to 600 Rupees, or 1,000 Rupees in Twilight Princess HD. When Link has collected every Golden Bug, he receives a further upgrade from her, called the Giant Wallet, which holds up to 1,000 Rupees, or 2,000 Rupees in the HD version.

In Twilight Princess HD this is changed slightly, as there is a fourth, amiibo-exclusive wallet called the Colossal Wallet which holds up to 9999 rupees. To obtain it, the Wolf Link amiibo must be scanned, and the Cave of Shadows fully completed. This will upgrade Link's wallet by one step. All three wallet upgrades - two from Agitha and the one from the Cave of Shadows - must be obtained to receive the Colossal Wallet.

Skyward Sword

In Skyward Sword, Link holds 300 Rupees at first. Almost every wallet Link receives are from Batreaux by giving him Gratitude Crystals. When Link gives Batreaux 5 Gratitude Crystals, he receives the Medium Wallet, which stores up to 500 Rupees. The third wallet Link receives is the Big Wallet, which stores up to 1,000 Rupees. When Link gives Batreaux 50 Gratitude Crystals, he receives the fourth wallet, the Giant Wallet, which stores up to 5,000 Rupees. The fifth and last wallet is the Tycoon Wallet, which stores up to a whopping 9,000 Rupees. There are also a total of three Extra Wallets in the game, which add an additional 300 Rupees to Link's current wallet for 100 Rupees in Beedle's Airshop. That makes a total of 9,900 Rupees to store in the wallet.
