Hey! Listen! Welcome to our Wiki, Melora!

We're glad that you signed up so that you can edit, build, and shape the Zelda Dungeon Wiki! Before you start editing, why don't you check out some of these useful links and read these basic rules?

  • Edit your settings. Make sure you have set up your settings to make the wiki work the way you want it. We have a bunch of customizations that we have spent time creating, and we hope that you utilize them to the fullest.
  • Please treat all members with respect. We don't want to have to ban someone because there is an issue between our users.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when making edits to properly format pages. Use templates often to save on coding everything.
  • If you have some questions, instead of sitting around doing nothing, ask our administration team. They won't bite.
  • Head to our help page to find some links to helpful pages that will teach you how to do many things on the wiki.
  • Read the FAQ to find the answers to a few common questions.
  • Please use proper grammar and strive for good edits.
  • Always sign talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically sign the page with your username and date.
  • Use talk pages to talk about edits on pages. Do not participate in editing wars (i.e. editing a page over and over again to make the page what you think it should be rather than what another member thinks) as they are counter productive and will not solve the problem. Use the talk pages like they were meant to be used.

We hope that you enjoy your time here on the Zelda Dungeon Wiki and that you will help us make lots of really good edits. Keep in mind that the administration team will be watching for quality editors to bring them on to our site staff.

Do you have any initial questions? Feel free to ask on one of our staff talk pages.

Thanks again for joining! Can't wait to see you around!

Macros

Alright, I whipped up a quick guide on how I do my consistent formatting stuff: Help:Custom Edittools. It's a bit of a pain to set up, but instant-template-with-one-click is often worth it. Let me know if you have any questions about it. << Locke(T·C) >> 19:31, June 22, 2012 (CDT)

Wow, awesome! You are too kind. I will check it out right away. My husband is a tools guy, so I've learned to appreciate all of their uses ;) Thanks! Melora 19:55, June 22, 2012 (CDT)

Images not updating- a note:

I'm not 100% sure what is going on so I'm just going to leave this note here: I was going to start updating all the poorest quality old images with somewhat better ones from the scans I made from the media Mases and I have... but currently, 2 out of 3 of them, have not updated to the newer version. They just look like scaled up versions of the old image ...even though the thumbnail quality updates. It doesn't seem to be a cache problem on my end. (I know it may lay with me, I'm going to keep trying to figure that out) so there's a chance it may be a wiki bug? As in, when I googled this, I'm reading that some people are reporting the images queues and then updates within a day. ?Shrug? Source below. I have no idea, I have no experience with wikis but I figure it wont hurt to see if that just happens. I would try the other suggestions but I don't want to break any links or pages. So, basically, I'm going to give it some time before I upload anything else: no reason for me to make edits that aren't a net positive. If that doesn't do anything I'll contact someone eventually and ask but, also, if anyone knows if there's something I can do to keep this from happening, I would love to hear more! New Version Upload Problem Discussion
This has been pretty constant of late - sometimes it updates immediately, sometimes within a day or so, sometimes it can take forever. The only reliable workaround I've found is to move the image, which forces the server to recache. - Sanityormadness (talk) 20:33, March 18, 2021 (UTC)
For the record, I'm seeing 3/4 as having updated now. (File:MoaFire-Futabasha-AOL.png is the exception) - Sanityormadness (talk) 20:37, March 18, 2021 (UTC)
Cool! (And thanks for the reply, I'm still learning how this all works.) What would be the preferred way I handle this? I mean, now that I know they update eventually, I'm fine doing it this same way. (It's not like anything I'm going to be adding is urgent) But, if there's a better way, let me know. Also, wow, the digital high res images you've added to some areas are amazing. From the Art and Artifacts book. Can I ask you where/how you're getting them? Saw the quality on those and was blown away (I may know but I'm not sure.) If you don't want to discuss it here my email is melorasworld at gmail. If I had a source/way I would be happy to continue to add those to the places they're still needed in here. Mases can vouch for me. For the past 20 years I've popped on to the internet, every few years, to get a ton of Zelda image work done and it just kicked in again. Melora (talk) 21:17, March 18, 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I recognise the name, I've seen your Flickr :p [PS: E-mail sent]
Speaking of, is this the best scan you have of https://www.flickr.com/photos/historyofhyrule/9267679620/in/album-72157629221314979/ ? I'd like to use it as the Fire Shield image here, since it matches the game much better. - Sanityormadness (talk) 00:09, March 19, 2021 (UTC)
Haha, awesome! I just wanted to throw it out there because I wanted to seem super serious because, in general, I understand how people can get a lot of requests and sometimes get burned out on replying because a lot of time nothing comes of it because it was never serious. That image- Humm, it probably is my best one. My files are a mess right now, I'm in the middle of re-arranging everything, (I don't know how it got so bad, lol. but it's why I'm uploading slowly. I find things while trying to organize them better) and my actual books are all in storage after moving. I'll poke around and see if I can find the folder with that set of scans though and probably get back to you tomorrow. Also, just to be super clear: feel free to use anything I have and always keep on asking! BTW, I also got everything I was asking about. Yay! Some of the other ones were big files but extremely poorly compressed, so I'll have to scale them down, but they're still amazing compared to what I was expecting. Thank you again. I'm slowly going to be working on all of this. Melora (talk) 05:50, March 19, 2021 (UTC)
