The Link's Awakening's Trading Sequence involves 14 items and was the first one ever to be in a Zelda game. The rewards for this Trading Sequence are the Magnifying Lens and the Boomerang.
Link's Awakening Trading Sequence

Yoshi Doll
The Yoshi Doll is the first item in the Trading Sequence. It can be found in Mabe Village in the Trendy Game Shop. It is not moving at all, making it very simple to collect. It can be collected as soon as Link has collected enough Rupees to play the game, which is 10 Rupees.

Ribbon
The second item in the Trading Sequence is the Ribbon. It can also be found in Mabe Village, once again allowing for it to be found very early on in the game. It can be traded for the Yoshi Doll with Papahl's Wife. She will tell Link that her baby is crying and she needs something to calm it down, claiming that she tried to win he Yoshi Doll from the Trendy Game Shop with no success.

Dog Food
The next item is called the Dog Food, and yet again it can be found in Mabe Village. In the right room of Madam MeowMeow's house, there will be a small Chain Chomp that will ask to trade for the Ribbon. In return, she will give Link the Dog Food.

Bananas
The fourth item in the Trading Sequence, the Bananas, can be acquired by trading with Sale, a crocodile that lives in a small house on the Toronbo Shores. He will be very happy to see the Dog Food, and will give Link some nice Bananas in exchange.

Stick
The Stick is the only Trading Sequence item that is actually required for the main quest. On Link's way to Kanalet Castle, he will be stopped by a broken bridge. However, a Monkey by the name of Kiki will come and offer to build a bridge in exchange for the Bananas. Link will accept, and Kiki will call his monkey friends and together they will build a bridge. After they are done, Link can collect the Stick that they left on the ground.

Honeycomb
The sixth item in the Trading Sequence can be collected after Link has completed the Key Cavern. In the Ukuku Prairie, Tarin can be seen standing beside a tree. He will ask to borrow the Stick Link has, and will use it to whack away at a beehive that is attached to the tree. The bees will chase Tarin off the screen, and leave behind the Honeycomb.

Pineapple
The next item in the Trading Sequence can be found in the Animal Village, in the house to the very southeast. Inside, Chef Bear will ask Link to use his Honeycomb in his food, and will give Link a Pineapple in exchange.

Hibiscus
The eighth item in the Trading Sequence can be found in the Tal Tal Heights area. Papahl, the guy from Mabe Village, will ask Link for food because he is so hungry. Link can give him the Pineapple, and in exchange Paphal will give Link a Hibiscus.

Letter
The Hibiscus can traded for the Letter with the Goat Women, supposedly named Christine, that can be found in the Animal Village. She says that she loves flowers and Hibiscus are her favorite.

Broom
The Broom is given to Link by Mr. Write once he receives Christine's letter. The picture on the letter is not of Christine, but Mr. Write appears to be oblivious and gives him the only item he has – the broom – as thanks.

Fishing Hook
Grandma Ulrira, who has been in need of a new broom, will be so excited when Link brings her one that she gives him the Fishing Hook. She states that she found the Fishing Hook when she was sweeping by the river bank.

Mermaid's Necklace
Link can find the Fisherman under a bridge in Martha's Bay who is in need of the Fishing Hook. When Link gives him one, he will catch the Mermaid's Necklace from the water.

Mermaid's Scale
The final item in the Trading Sequence, the Mermaid's Scale, is received from the mermaid named Martha after Link returns her missing necklace. She allows him to take one from her tail.

Magnifying Lens
The reward for the Link's Awakening is the Magnifying Lens. Link can place the Mermaid's Scale in the mermaid statue made by Schule Donavich in Martha's Bay in order to reveal a secret passage. The first room appears to be empty at first, but after obtaining the Lens, many enemies appear. The Lens allows Link to see things he couldn't before, such as the Secret Zora in Animal Village or the Secret Goriya at Toronbo Shores.

Boomerang
Once Link has the Magnifying Lens, he can use them to see the Goriya in a cave on Toronbo Shores. He will trade Link the Boomerang for any item Link has assigned to the B button. He can also come back at any time to trade back or trade with a different item.

A Trading Sequence is a type of side-quest that has appeared in five Zelda games to date. It usually involves lots of items, time limits, and mini-games that in the end will usually reward Link with a prize.

Appearances

As stated above, the Trading Sequence has appeared in five games, starting with Link's Awakening.

Ocarina of Time

The Ocarina of Time's Trading Sequence involves 12 items. The reward of completing the sequence is the Biggoron's Sword, a two-handed weapon which deals more damage than the Master Sword. It is very similar to the Giant's Knife, which can be bought at Goron City, but unlike the Giant's Knife the Biggoron Sword does never break after a set amount of swings.

Requirements

Link needs to do two jobs before or during the Trading Sequence. He must free King Zora from the Red Ice and he needs Epona. Young Link can also plant Magic Beans to make the side-quest easier, but this is completely optional.

Pocket Egg

The Pocket Egg is the first item in the trading sequence. Link can get it from the Cucco Lady in Kakariko Village. She wants Link to make the Cucco happy by waking up a very lazy person.

Cucco

After one day a Cucco will hatch from the collected Egg. It needs to be brought to Talon, who sleeps in a house in Kakariko Village. He wakes up and returns to the farm. Link can now go to the Cucco Lady to gather a special Cucco.

Cojiro

Cojiro is the third part in the Trading Sequence. It used to be the Cucco Lady's brother's cucco. Link needs to bring Cojiro to a stranger in the Lost Woods. He gives Link the next item.

Odd Mushroom

The guy in the lost woods gives Link the Odd Mushroom. He wants Link to bring it to a Potion Shop in Kakariko Village. This fresh mushroom will hand down very quickly. It will become useless in 3 minutes. Warp Songs don't work here.

Odd Potion

The Women at the potion shop, who obviously knows the person in the lost woods, makes a strong medicine for him. When Link returns to the Lost Woods, he will meet a Kokiri, namely Fado, instead.

Poacher's Saw

When talking to Fado, she tells Link that the previous person became a Stalfos. When Link gives the Odd Potion to her, she will give him the Poacher's Saw. Link's next destination is Gerudo Valley. After crossing the broken bridge, he can talk to the leader of the Carpenters, who gives him the Broken Goron's Sword for the saw.

Broken Goron's Sword

The creator of the broken sword is Biggoron, who can be found on top of Death Mountain. Once Link talks to him, he assures Link that his Swords are much better than the Giant's knives made by his brother. He offers Link a free repair. His eyes are unfortunately irrated by the last eruption, so he cannot fix it, yet. He wants Link to go to Zora's Domain to get some Eye Drops for him. Biggoron gives Link a Prescription.

Prescription

Once Link arrives at Zora's Domain, he can talk to King Zora. The King tells Link, that he only has the ingredients - the Eyeball Frog.

Eyeball Frog

The Eyeball Frog needs to be delivered fresh. Link has 3 minutes to bring them to the Lake Scientist, who will be very disappointed that the frog is only used for eye drops. Warp songs won't work here.

World's Finest Eye Drops

After receiving the World's Finest Eye Drops from the Scientist, Link has to deliver them to Biggoron in 4 minutes.

Claim Check

After Biggoron used the Eye Drops, he can continue the sword business. He gives Link the Claim Check. Biggoron will finish his work in 3 days.

Biggoron's Sword

Once the 3 days have passed, Link can get the repaired sword from Biggoron.
