The Thyphlo Ruins are completely shrouded in darkness, and they can only be accessed/exited from the west or by teleporting away. ===Finding The Ruins===
There is no fast way to reach either the ruins or the shrine due to various reasons:
*Qaza Tokki Shrine is relatively close, but still markedly distant from it. The path from the shrine includes leaving the North Lomei Labyrinth, going around the northern chasm to the south and then heading east through the Drenan Highlands, and then encountering a Lynel, which guards the southern fork. The southern fork is identifiable by being uphill and the various Zonai statues/columns along the path.
*Shora Hah Shrine is inside the hollowed Isle of Rabac, which is surrounded by a lava lake. Even if Link makes it to shore, there's also the Eldin Mountains to clear, and reaching the ruins' entrance requires to circle around them through the opposite western side;
*The shrines in the Great Hyrule Forest are even closer, but the fog of the Lost Woods makes it impossible to leave without being surrounded by the white haze and transported to the interior of the woods.

The island is surrounded by a swampy lake surrounding it on all sides, with just a narrow stone bridge to the west serving as the primary entrance. The ruins are filled with small columns and statues, found throughout the region.

The Thyphlo Ruins are a location found in Breath of the Wild & Tears of the Kingdom, located north of the Great Hyrule Forest.

Breath of the Wild

The Thyphlo Ruins are completely shrouded in darkness, and they can only be accessed/exited from the west or by teleporting away. They're surrounded by a bog, so they can't be accessed to by swimming. The ruins can be paraglided into, but the sudden cover of darkness may completely disorient the player upon landing. The veil of darkness begins in the middle of the bog, well before the visual limit of the dome. The ruins feature several bird-shaped spires whose beaks point Link towards the general path leading to the Ketoh Wawai Shrine. It's encouraged that Link lights them for orientation. There are also Fire Rods and other fire weapons available to use. Zumi at the Serenne Stable will mention the ruins when prompted.

Though they are luminous, Ancient and Elemental weapons other than the rods are not bright enough to be useful inside the ruins.

These ruins are filled to the brim with Zonai statues similar to the ones in the Zonai Ruins. However, statues and figures seem to be placed grouped right next to each other, implying that they were placed haphazardly, or further implying that the ruins were a depository for the Zonai statues.

It's not known why the ruins are shrouded in darkness, but unlike other environmental-conditioned locations like Toh Yahsa Shrine, clearance of the Shrine Quest does not remove the permanent darkness status. The ruins can be navigated via the use of torches or other luminous resources like Daruk's Protection; if the proper DLC has been downloaded and installed, and provided that the player has cleared EX The Champions' Ballad, the Master Cycle Zero can be used to navigate the ruins by using its front light. It's also not known when and under what circumstances the shrine was built inside the ruins.

Finding The Ruins

There is no fast way to reach either the ruins or the shrine due to various reasons:

 • Qaza Tokki Shrine is relatively close, but still markedly distant from it.
 • Shora Hah Shrine is inside the hollowed Isle of Rabac, which is surrounded by a lava lake. Even if Link makes it to shore, there's also the Eldin Mountains to clear, and reaching the ruins' entrance requires to circle around them through the opposite western side;
 • The shrines in the Great Hyrule Forest are even closer, but the fog of the Lost Woods makes it impossible to leave without being surrounded by the white haze and transported to the interior of the woods.

Tears of the Kingdom

The Thyphlo Ruins are a large island found at the north end of Hyrule. The island is surrounded by a swampy lake surrounding it on all sides, with just a narrow stone bridge to the west serving as the primary entrance. The ruins are filled with small columns and statues, found throughout the region.

At the northwest part of the swamp, there are some ruins sticking out of the swampy water, one of which has a treasure chest on top of it. Use the restoration materials found to the west to create a ramp to reach the chest, which contains ten Brightbloom Seeds.

South of Thyphlo Ruins on the other side of the swamp, there is an enemy base with three Bokoblin and a Blue Moblin. At the base there is a chest with an Opal gem.

Southeast of the ruins, on the other side of the swamp, Addison can be found holding up a Hudson Sign. Use the nearby Hyrule Restoration Materials to hold up the sign. As a reward, Addison will give Link a Red Rupee, some Meaty Rice Balls, and a Puffshroom.

Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower

The Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower can be found at the center of the ruins. Billson can be found at the Terminal, but initially the Skyview Tower is not operational. Link must first reach the top of the tower and remove the floating platform that is blocking the top of the tower. Link can reach the top of the tower by first using Ultrahand to lower some of the lower elevated floating platforms. After defeating the Soldier Construct, he can use Rockets to launch himself up to the top of the tower. After moving the floating platform above the tower, Link can return to Billson, where he can then activate the tower.

Investigate the Thyphlo Ruins

Just southeast of the tower, Link will find Kazul, standing near a Cooking Pot. After Link has completed one of the Regional Phenomena, Link can speak with Kazul to begin the Investigate the Thyphlo Ruins quest. If Link talks to him beforehand, Kazul mentions that he's going to get started on research on his own, since he hasn't made any major discoveries yet. The quest leads to Link acquiring numerous gems, including multiple Saphire, Ruby, Opal, and Topaz. For completing the quest, Kazul will reward Link with a Large Zonai Charge, a Big Battery, and a Diamond. Link also gains access to a treasure chest which contains a Dusk Claymore.

Korok Seeds

 • Just west of the Skyview Tower, Link can use Ultrahand to place the metal blocks in the whole to complete the pattern, earning a Korok Seed.
 • At the southwest part of the island, there is a small island in the swamp. Lift the rock on the island to get the Korok Seed.
 • At the far west end of the ruins, just north of the bridge, there are some ruins in the swamp. Climb up and lift the rock here to get the Korok Seed.
 • Just southwest of the bridge at the entrance of the Thyphlo bridge, there is a large statue. Climb up and step on the tree stump to create a target to the northwest. Reach the target in time to find the Korok.
 • At the southeast end of the ruins, by the swamp, there is a Korok trying to reunite with his friend on the other side of the swamp. Either use Zonai Devices or walk the really long way around to reunite them and get a pair of Korok Seeds.
