After goat herding, Link's friend, Ilia takes the horse away to wash her in the spirit's spring. When Link goes there to get her back, a large green beast comes crashing through the gate, and kidnaps Ilia and the others. When Link runs across the bridge towards the woods, he gets grabbed and sucked in to a big black wall by a giant hand. When Link awakens inside the Twilight, he turns into a wolf, and a golden triangle shows up on his hand. You then see a mysterious stalker character named Midna watching him. Link gets taken to Hyrule Castle, and gets imprisoned in the cellars. Here, he meets Midna, who indirectly helps Link escape. When he finally gets to the rooftop of the castle, and into the tallest tower, he meets Princess Zelda for the first time. She tells him about a battle that went on in Hyrule Castle between Zelda and the soldiers, and a mysterious tall guy named Zant. Zelda surrenders and the whole are falls under Twilight. Link and Midna escape from the Twilight and return to Ordon to get a Sword and Shield. The weapons he grab just so happen to be the gift he was to deliver to Hyrule. On their way back to the Twiligh, they get stopped outside Ordon Spring, where they meet Ordona, the first Light Spirit in the game. Then, a battle is engaged between Link and a Twilight Beast. Link and Midna then go to the Twilight covered Faron Woods where they meet the shattered remains of the Light Spirit Faron. He gives them the Vessel of Light so they can find Tears of Light and restore Light to Faron Province. After that, they meet Faron, and Link finds out he is the chosen hero of destiny. Link and Midna then go to the forest temple, where they get the Gale Boomerang, and defeat Diababa. After that, they are granted with the first Fused Shadow. Faron then tells them to go to the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN). Link then goes to said area, but is stopped just outside the Wall of Twilight by The Postman. Continuing on, Link and Midna go into the Twilight, and find Link's Wooden Sword, which he gave to Talo awhile back. Since Link is a wolf at this time, he can smell the kids, and follow the scent to a broken bridge and 3 Twilight Beasts. After going to Faron Woods to recover the bridge, Link and Midna continue on to Kakariko Village, where they find the shattered form of the Light Spirit Eldin. Once again, they search Kakariko and Death Mountain for the Tears of Light to restore the light to Eldin Province. After doing so, Link will be reuinited with the kids at last. But one person is still missing. Where's Ilia? Anyway, Link talks to the kids, and meets a new character, Renado, who tells Link about the Gorons at Death Mountain, and how they are in an uncontrollable rage. If Link tries to go up to Death Mountain, Renado tells him that Bo, the Mayor of Ordon, could beat the Gorons in strength contests. So Link goes to leave Kakariko, when Epona comes riding in with two Bulblins on her back. After handling her, Link can ride her to Ordon. When he meets with Bo, Link gets a quick Sumo lesson, and Bo gives him the Iron Boots. With these in hand, Link returns to Death Mountain, fighting off the Gorons along to way, until he finally reaches a large room with lots of Gorons, who are prepared to fight. The Goron Elder, Gor Coron comes out and tells Link that if he can win against him in a contest of strength, he will grant him entry into the Goron mines to save the Goron Patriarch, Darbus. Inside, he finds the Bow, and gets the three pieces of key to Darbus' room from the other 3 Goron elders (Gor Amoto, Gor Ebizo and Gor Liggs). When he gets to Darbus' room, Darbus turns into a monster called Fyrus. After defeating him, Link is granted with Fused Shadow number 2. Link then travels to the Lanayru Province which is also covered in Twilight. There he meets the Light Spirit, Lanayru and saves the Province from Twilight. After doing so, he is reunited with Ilia, who is in the care of the bartender, Telma. The two of them are taking care of a collapsed Zora child name Prince Ralis. Link quickly escorts them to Kakariko village, where Ralis and Ilia get put in Renado’s care. Ilia has lost her memory, and apparently, retrieving it is no simple task. Link then gets granted the Zora Armor by Ralis’s dead Mom, Rutela. Link heads to Lake Hylia, where he enters the Water Temple. Here, he gets the clawshot, and defeats Morpheel, granting him the 3rd and final Fused Shadow. With these in hand, Link and Midna return to Lanayru Spring, where they learn the story of the Dark Interlopers. Here at the spring, they quite literally bump into Zant, who then hurts Midna by trapping her in the Light World, even though the light is not good for her. Link and Midna then return to Hyrule Castle where Zelda grants Midna the power to survive in the Light World. So they go back to Faron Woods, to a hidden portion called the Sacred Grove. Here, they find the Legendary Blade of Evil’s Bane, the Master Sword. The two of them then go to the Gerudo Desert, which is the location of the Arbiter’s Grounds. Here, they defeat Stallord, who was powered by Zant. Afterwards, they head outside where they find the Mirror of Twilight, which is broken in 4 pieces. They also meet the Sages, and learn about Ganondorf, who apparently holds the Triforce of Power. They sent him into the Twilight Realm after a failed execution. Next, Link and Midna go to Snowpeak, the home of Yeto and Yeta, to recover a cursed mirror shard that possessed Yeta, turning her into Blizzeta. Next they return to the Sacred Grove and enter the Temple of Time where they find the Dominion Rod, and recover another mirror shard from Armoghoma. They then return to Kakariko where they meet Shad, who tells them about the sky beings, known as the Oocca. Gor Coron tells Link to go to the Hidden Village near the Bridge of Eldin. Here they find Impaz, who is the last of the Shiekah. She gives Link the Skybook, which allows Shad to read a word that moves the statue in the basement. Link gets a wooden statue from Castle Town, as well as a Horse Call from Impaz, which combined give Ilia her memory back. Link goes back to Kakariko and shows the book to Shad, who gives him the location of the remaining owl statues around Hyrule. Link goes and moves them all, restoring the full word, which removes the seal on the owl statue in Kakariko. Link moves it and finds a cannon, which allows him to access the City in the Sky, home of the Oocca. Link defeats the Dragon, Argarok, thus granting him the final mirror shard. With all 3 shards in hand, Link and Midna return to the Mirror of Twilight, and enter the Palace of Twilight. Here, Link recovers the 2 Sols, thus bringing the power of light to the Master Sword. So Link and Midna then go defeat Zant once and for all, but find out that he is just a puppet, and the real bad guy is Ganondorf. So Link and Midna return to Hyrule Castle once more, where they face off with Ganondorf. Link stabs him in the stomach with the Master Sword, which finishes him. Midna is then revealed to truly be a beautiful Princess. Her, Link, and Zelda return to the Mirror Chamber, and say their final goodbyes, as Midna leaves, shattering the mirror of Twilight into a million pieces so that nothing could enter or leave the Twilight Realm ever again.
