The Minish Cap follows the young Link who sets out on a quest to save Princess Zelda from the evil Wind Mage Vaati, who not only turned Zelda into stone but also causes trouble for the rest of Hyrule. To Link's aid comes the small Picori and a strange talking cap named Ezlo, who grants Link the ability to turn into the size of a Picori.
Nearly two years after the release of The Wind Waker, Nintendo released the next handheld adventure in the The Legend of Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. This time utilizing a modified version of the Four Swords art style altered to be more in line with The Wind Waker art style. The game uses an improved version of the interface found in the Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles.

Story
This game introduced a new race to the series which hasn't been seen in any other games since, the Picori (or Minish). These small creatures can only be seen by children, meaning that Link can interact with them throughout the adventure. Early on in the game, Link meets up with Ezlo, a transfigured Minish who joins Link as his iconic cap and giving tips along the way. Using Ezlo's mystical powers, Link is able to shrink down at various portals throughout Hyrule and enter the small world of the Minish, solving puzzles and entering dungeons that were previously inaccessible.

In this 12th installment of the Zelda series, Link is a simple youth citizen of Hyrule. As the game begins, we find that he was raised by a blacksmith, and is a long time friend of the princess of Hyrule, Zelda. Zelda and Link leave Link's house to go to a festival being held in the northward Hyrule Town. There, they both indulge in the local booths, before heading off to Hyrule Castle for a traditional ceremony. When they arrive, the ceremony is about to start. The entire act is a celebration of the legendary Picori Blade, a sword that vanquished all evil, and locked it inside of a box, sealed with the blade itself. One ordinary Hylian is allowed to touch the sacred sword annually. This year's chosen participant's name is Vaati, and as he approaches the blade, he removes his disguise as an average man to reveal that he himself is an evil sorcerer who wishes to free the evil from the box that the Picori Blade seals. As the guards of Hyrule Castle rush him, he turns them into stone, along with Princess Zelda, and breaks the Picori Blade that sealed the box, releasing all the evils back into the world. He runs off, leaving Link and the other guests of the castle in peril. After the debacle is finished, the King, his remaining guards, and Link retreat to the castle's throne room. Here, the king informs Link of the story of the Picori Blade. The sword was crafted by the Picori, a small human-like organism, that have not interacted with humans for some time. They crafted the blade to stop the evil forces covering the land at the time. A youth had used the sword to save the world. The king tells Link that he must get the Picori to reforge the blade, so that he can defeat the evil sorcerer. The king continues to inform Link that only children are said to now be able to see the Picori. Link is sent into the Minish Woods with the broken Picori Blade, as well as a sword given to him by the blacksmith. After wandering around aimlessly in the forest for some time, and coming to a dead end, Link hears a scream for help. He ventures once more through the Woods, and comes to the victim he heard yelling. It appears to be a small green hat with a bird head located at the top of it, and is being shot by octoroks. Link proceeds to save the hat, who takes a liking to Link, and decides to follow him around. He reveals that his name is Elzo and, like Link, is also looking a way to break a curse placed upon him by Vaati. Unable to keep up with Links strong pace, Elzo decides to sit upon Link's head, and this is where he stays for the remainder of the adventure.

While in Minish Woods, Link comes across an unassuming tree stump. Elzo tells Link that by standing on it, he will be change into a picori. Link does so and is instantly shrunk to size of the creatures. This way, Link is now able to enter the Minish Village, the home place of the picori. As he arrives , he is greeted with several strange looks. The locals speak a language that cannot be translated, even by Elzo. This confuses them, so they go off in search of a picori who speaks English.
One of the game's primary goals is to gather the four Elements in order to restore power to the Four Sword, allowing Link to progressively split into mirror images of himself in order to battle enemies and solve puzzles. That, along with the final boss, reveals that this game is the prequel to the Four Swords games, setting the stage for those adventures.

They find the mayor of the town, who is an acclaimed expert in humans, and tells them that by eating a jabber nut, they will understand the language of the Picori. Link consumes one found growing in a house made out of a barrel. Now understanding very word, he goes to seek out the elder.
Many of the sounds, including Link's voice, were taken from Ocarina of Time, though the game resembles The Wind Waker more.

The Elder tells Link that he must find the 4 elements if he wishes to reforge the picori blade. The elements are crystalline forms of Earth, Fire, Wind and Water. With these elements infused with the blade, its power shall return. The first element, Earth is located in a sanctuary north of the village. This is Links first port of call. Fighting his way through the hordes of enemies now in the sanctuary, Link reaches the first element. However, his path is block by a Green Chu. An easy battle if you weren't the size of the picori, which Link still is. After an intense battle, the creature is defeated and link gains the first element. Link then returns to the elder. The elder tells Link to seek out a picori by the name of Melari, a master swordsmith on the summit of Mount Crenel.
While being only released for the Game Boy Advance for nearly seven years, The Minish Cap was released on the 3DS Virtual Console as a part of the exclusive ten Game Boy Advance games for the Ambassador program. Three years after the re-release, The Minish Cap was released on the Wii U Virtual Console, being the first time non-Ambassadors can play it other than its initial release.

Climbing mount Mt. Crenel was no small feat. Once the peak was reached, Link found Melari in his smith. Giving Melari the broken Picori Blade, link set off to a human mine nearby, where the 2nd element (The Fire Element) was located.

Link returns just in time to see Melari and his apprentices finish their work on the sword. This sword is now the White Sword and now must be fused with the 4 elements. Link goes in search of the sanctuary in Hyrule castle. When they arrive in the courtyard, they notice a strange looking doorway which only they can see. Link enters to find the elemental sanctuary. He infuses the blade with elements of fire and earth. Suddenly, a giant stone slab appears behind them. It tells of the true power of the blade and, when filled with power, can spilt a body in up to 4 pieces. However, because Link only has 2 elements, is limit is one spilt for now.
Princess Zelda visit her childhood friend, Link, who lives with his grandfather, the royal blacksmith, Smith. Smith asks Link to bring a sword he created to the King of Hyrule to present to the winner of the tournament at the Picori Festival, in celebration of when the Picori last came to Hyrule 100 years ago to the day.The two go to Hyrule Town to join in the festivities.
After, the King present the winner of the tournament with Smith's sword and allow them to touch the sacred Picori Blade, binding the Bound Chest shut. However, it is revealed that the winner, Vaati, has malicious intent, and breaks the Picori Blade, opening the Bound Chest and flooding Hyrule with monsters. He then turns Princess Zelda to stone and flees the area. Vaati was after the Light Force, that golden light that was once wielded by the hero mentioned in the legends of the Picori.

As Link leaves Hyrule Castle, he comes across Vaati outside. Link proceeds to chase him, but is stopped by two Moblins. Once defeated, Elzo fully explains his and Vaati's backstory.
This game follows the young Link who sets out on a quest to save Princess Zelda from the evil Wind Mage Vaati, who also causes trouble for the rest of Hyrule. To Link's aid comes the small Picori and a strange talking cap named Ezlo, who grants Link the ability to turn into the size of a Picori and hopped on his head like a hat.

In truth, both Elzo and Vaati are Minish- the real name for the picori. Elzo is a powerful sorcerer and Vaati was his apprentice. While Elzo was creating a hat which could grant the wishes of the humans, Vaati snuck in and stole it. He turned into the powerful warlock he is now and transformed Elzo into a hat. Vaati is now searching for the "Light Force" - a strange force which grants the user the unlimited power.

Link once again continues on his way to the Wind Fortress, for the third element. He digged through the dirt with his newly obtained item: the Mole Mitts, and defeated the dugeon boss, Mazaal. But, the element was not there. then, Link and Ezlo moved on searching the missing elements.

Link enters in the Temple of Droplets and saw the element frozen in a block of ice. After some walking, the ice block was melted, but it unfroze a Big Octorock. He then stole the element, and Link went to get it back.

After defeating the octorock, Link infused the water element to the sword and proceeded to the Cloud Tops. There, he found the entrance to the Palace of Winds, where he found the Wind Element by beating Gyorg Pair.

Link finally infused the four elements, but then, Vaati screwed the whole castle and was ready to drain the light force of Zelda. Link went to the top of the castle and brought justice to Hyrule, once more.

Many of the sounds, including Link's voice, were taken from Ocarina of Time, though the game resembles The Wind Waker more.

Story

Main article: The Minish Cap Story
