"A swarm of Kargaroks is attacking! Defend yourself!"

— In-Game Description

The Great Bridge: Defender (Kargarok Assault in the European/Australian version) is the final stage of Level 3 in Link's Crossbow Training. It is a "Defender" stage played in third person, where Link can be seen but cannot move from the spot, or change the fixed camera view.

Kargaroks are the main enemies and targets of the stage. Each kargarok is worth a base 30 points, increasing with the combo multiplier. The stones they spit at Link are worth 5 points to hit and do not increase with the multiplier, but cost Link 100 points and his current combo if they hit *him*. In addition, Argoroks occasionally fly past in the far background, and are worth a base 100 points each.

A scarecrow is in the middle distance of the stage. It does not trigger any events, but is worth up to 1041 points (eight hits to the body to maximise the head size, starting at +1 and increasing to +8, then 1000 points for the giant head). Various 5 point skulls lie close to Link, a random one of which (usually one of the two on top of the fence posts) contains a rupee for up to 1000 points. None of these are affected by the current combo.

Trivia

Camera perspectives one was not meant to see.
  • Although the camera viewpoint is fixed, most of the environment geometry and textures "off-camera" around Link are fully loaded, and can be seen if the game camera is manipulated with something like the Dolphin Emulator's free look tool.
  • Manipulating the camera as such also reveals Link is floating several metres in the air.
