The Dragon of the Caves is the first scenario in Cia's Tale, and the chronologically earliest scenario overall of Legend Mode in Hyrule Warriors.
In the Wii U version, it was available as part of the Master Quest DLC Pack. In Hyrule Warriors Legends and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, it was part of the base game, with added collectables.
Story
"The goodness driven from her heart, Cia opened the Gate of Souls, summoning vast hordes of monsters to Hyrule.
Ganondorf's spirit counseled that her attack must be swift and devastating if she was to be victorious.
However, controlling an army would require a commander, and Cia realised she would need a powerful warrior to serve as her general.
The perfect commander came readily to mind: the Dragon Knight of the Eldin Caves.
If he could be made to serve, such a creature would easily be able to command her minions' obedience.
Cia wasted no time.
She immediately set off for the Eldin Caves in search of her new champion."
Conditions
- Victory Conditions
- Acquire the ancient ring, and then defeat Volga. →? Defeat Volga and Wizzro!
- Defeat Conditions
- (none) →? Wizzro flees or the Allied Base falls. →? The Allied Base falls.
- Missions
- Search the keeps and find the ancient ring!
- Capture the keeps controlled by Volga's Forces!
- Defeat Volga and Wizzro!
Collectables
- Note: There are no collectables in the Wii U version of this scenario. The following applies to Hyrule Warriors Legends and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition only.

Piece of Heart
- Playing as Cia, take control of the Central Keep located at the south part of the map and a treasure chest will appear containing the piece of heart.
Gold Skulltulas

- After defeating 1,000 enemies, the Gold Skulltula appears south of Central Keep at a dead end. It is hidden by a boulder which must be destroyed using Bombs.
