Tarin is a character from Link's Awakening. He is the father of Marin. They live in a house in Mabe Village.
Link's Awakening
After Marin rescues Link after he washed up on the shores of Koholint Island, Tarin gives Link his shield, explaining that he knew it was his since Link's name was on it.[1] After that, he goes into the Mysterious Forest to find some mushrooms, but he is turned into a strange raccoon that claims to be the reason that Link can't find his way to the Tail Key.[2] Link returns him to normal by sprinkling some Magic Powder on him.[3] Tarin believes the whole thing was a dream.[4]
Later, Tarin takes the Stick from Link during the Trading Sequence in order to try and knock down a hive of bees.[5] When the bees begin chasing Tarin, Link can take the Honeycomb.[6]
In the DX version of the game, if Link approaches the Weathercock while traveling with Marin, the Photographer will line them up for a picture. However, Tarin will appear and insist on joining in the photo.[7]
