I found the biting information on the Zelda.Wiki and didn't know that so I had to put in my OoT cartridge and see for myself. It appears to check out. I was able to run into the white bubbles and have nothing happen. They only bit me when I struck them with the sword, at close range, when they stopped moving and it only inflicted 1/4 of a heart but since I had the defense power added by the Great Fairy of Courage it showed 1/4. So I guess without it the damage would be 1/2 but I am not sure though. It also appears the sword is the only way for them to bite back since I tried the bow and got nothing back as well.
