The Strange Flute is an item found in both of the Oracle Games. At first when Link plays the flute, it will only play a tune and nothing else will happen. It is essentially useless until later in the game when Link meets Dimitri, Moosh and Ricky. Depending on how the flute is acquired, one of the three will become a permanent animal partner that he can summon at certain locations in the lands of Labrynna and Holodrum and determines the landscape of Nuun Highlands in Oracle of Ages and Natzu in Oracle of Seasons.
In a linked game, Link cannot obtain any other Flute, as he is assigned the same animal partner.

After beating the Moonlit Grotto and having Dimitri help him return to Lynna City, Link has three choices on how to choose his partner. Be warned: once the flute is found, the choice is permanent. The same can happen if Link does not acquire a flute before he enters Nuun Highlands.
Dimitri's Flute

Dimitri's Flute can be acquired if Link buys the Flute from Lynna Shop for 150 Rupees. After checking the broken bridge, he has to find Dimitri in Fairies' Woods. He will then become his partner.
Moosh's Flute
- Main article: Moosh's Flute
Moosh's Flute is the default flute. If Link has not acquired any Flute and heads towards Nuun Highlands, he will find Moosh in Fairies' Woods. There he will give him the Flute.
Ricky's Flute
- Main article: Ricky's Flute
Ricky's Flute can be acquired if Link scores 250 or more points in the Shooting Gallery mini-game in Lynna Village. After checking the broken bridge, Link has to find Ricky in Fairies' Woods. He will then become Link's partner.
Oracle of Seasons
After beating Snake's Remains, Link has the option to either head back to Subrosia, go back to Horon Village or go straight to his next destination in search of the next Essence of Nature. Like in Oracle of Ages, the choice is permanent once Link obtains a flute, or if he forgets to obtain it before entering Natzu.
Dimitri's Flute

Dimitri's Flute is acquired if Link beats the Subrosian Dance Hall mini-game. Once Link reaches Spool Swamp, he finds Dimitri being attacked by Moblins. Paying 80 rupees will free Dimitri and will make him Link's partner.
Moosh's Flute
- Main article: Moosh's Flute
Moosh's Flute is acquired if Link buys the Flute from Horon Village Shop for 150 Rupees. Similar to Dimitri's scenario, when Link arrives at Spool Swamp he sees Moosh being attacked by Moblins. Saving him will let him become Link's partner.
Ricky's Flute
- Main article: Ricky's Flute
Ricky's Flute is the default flute. If Link has not obtained a Flute by the time he defeats Blaino and returns Ricky's Gloves, he will be given his Flute and Ricky will become his partner.
