In Twilight Princess, Fire Toadpolis can be found early on in the Goron Mines, swimming in lava. They spit molten rock at Link that can burn his Ordon Shield or Wooden Shield. The molten balls can be sliced with the sword or be deflected back at the Fire Toadpoli with the Hylian Shield , killing it.

Spumes are a common enemy that appear in Skyward Sword. They shoot projectiles at Link that, unlike those of Octoroks, cannot be reflected with the Shield. Because Spumes appear in pools of lava or quicksand, they cannot be defeated with Sword attacks. The only way to defeat them is to use projectiles, such as Arrows, Bombs, or a Skyward Strike.

Main article: Magma Spume

Magma Spumes can be found swimming in pools of lava. They hop up from the lava to spit out fireballs toward Link that can destroy Link's Wooden Shield. Link can use the Sword or Shield to hit the fireballs, causing them to dissipate. Link can also use the stone balls to roll over and crush them.

Cursed Spume

Main article: Cursed Spume

These appear only after Link has completed the first three dungeons.

Electro Spume

Main article: Electro Spume

The Electro Spume is the same as the other two types of Spume, but differ due to them spitting electrically charged balls at Link, which can destroy Link's Iron Shield. Link must use a projectile or a Bomb to defeat them.

These appear in Lanayru Desert, and other areas with quicksand.

Water Spume

Main article: Water Spume
