The Spirit Flute is the primary instrument in Spirit Tracks. It is important to the plot of the game and is used to solve puzzles.

Location

The first time Link sees the Spirit Flute is when he sneaks into Princess Zelda's room at her request to help her sneak out of the castle. She is playing the instrument when he walks in. Later, when Zelda's body is stolen from her, she asks Link to take the Spirit Flute with him.

Use

The flute has six pipes that all play different notes. It is played by blowing into the microphone of the Nintendo DS and sliding the flute with the stylus to one of the pipes. The note will be a sharp if the player holds the X button, and flat if they hold the Y button.

The flute is used in duets with the Lokomos to restore the Spirit Tracks to the land. There are also five songs available that Link can learn to play anywhere:
