Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has multiple variants of Skulltulas.
The first variant is a small, white spider that crawls on vines. They can be taken out with the sword, but most of the time they will be beyond your sword's reach. The best way to defeat them is with a ranged weapon, such as your slingshot or bow and arrows. Should Link try to climb on the vine without killing the Skulltula first, the Skulltula will see you and charge, causing you to fall whatever height you have managed to climb.
The second variant is a large spider that hangs down from the ceiling. They will spin from their armored front to their exposed underside. Link will be damaged if he is caught in their spin. There are multiple methods of defeating them. While Young Link, there are two methods primarily used. The first is to wait for them to reveal their back side and rush in with a sword attack. A second, more effective way is to wait for them to expose their underside and shoot them with your slingshot. As Adult Link, you have more powerful weapons so you can shoot them with you bow or Hookshot and kill them even if they are facing you.
The third variant is the Gold Skulltula. There is an entire side quest dedicated to them where you hunt down the gold skulltulas to free the cursed family that lives in the House of Skulltula in Kakariko Village. When you kill a gold Skulltula, will get a token. when you get certain amount of tokens, (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 100 tokens) you will be awarded with different prizes. First you will get the adult wallet (can carry 200 rupees.) Next you will receive the Stone of Agony (controller will vibrate when near gold skulltulas.) The third prize is the Giants wallet (can carry 500 rupees.) The fourth reward is Bombchus. At 50 you will get a heart piece. Finally at 100 you can get 100 rupees. However, every time you exit and renter the house you can get it again, which gives you an unlimited amount of rupees!
In Majora's Mask, Skulltullas have the ability to perform a spin attack which can damage Link. They don't take damage when struck from the front side by the hookshot and the hero's bow is still effective in eliminating them. There is a single room in Majora's Mask that has invisible Skulltulas, and they can be seen with the use of the Lens Of Truth. A Skulltula is the first enemy Link encounters in Majora's mask, which is in the Bomber's Hideout. There is also a sidequest in Majora's mask which is centered around Link finding and killing Skulltulas in different Skulltula houses across Termina. There are only two Skulltula Houses, located in the Southern Swamp, and one located in Great Bay Coast. The prizes for them are as follows: The Mask of Truth is found in the Swamp house, and the The Giants Wallet ( only found on the first day) and Heart Piece #34( found on the 2nd and 3rd days) are found in the Great bay Skulltula House.
Skulltula's have similar properties to their ancestors of Ocarina Of Time and Majora's Mask in this game, with a shielded front side, and vulnerable back side. However, they will walk around on their own after being targeted or touched. Afterwards, they'll charge at Link until close enough to strike. If struck directly, Skulltulas will typically deflect the attack, giving off a blue spark on contact, although if attacked at the right time, will give a red spark, signifying a successful hit. Strategies on this enemy include: rolling around and attacking the back side, deflecting a bite attack and striking, or thrusting while they charge up an attack. Using a boomerang can be effective, as it momentarily stuns the Skulltula. These enemies can be found in the Forest Temple, as well as in various locations across Hyrule Field, specifically cavernous areas.
Skulltula appear very much like their Twilight Princess predecessors. They are spider-like creatures with eight legs whos main attack is to dash its body towards Link. Skulltulas will appear in several different ways. Some just drop down the cieling, others are hanging from a string, while some have full blown spider webs created to block your path. Link can knock down skulltulas by breaking the string or spider web utilizing the beetle.
Once a skulltula is on the ground, use your sword techniques to harm it. Once you've sliced it with a sword attack the skulltula will stand on its back legs, revealing its weak spot. Slash at the large purple jewel on its stomach to defeat the skulltula. In some cases, after hitting the skulltula a number of times, it will flip over and land on its back. At this point Link can jump and deliver a finishing blow, stabbing right through its weak point.
