Location

Shiro is a character featured within Majora's Mask.

Shiro is found on the Road to Ikana Canyon inside a group of rocks. If Link sees through the Lens of Truth, he sees Shiro, who is surprised that Link noticed him. He has apparently stayed there for years in an attempt to catch the attention of passersby. He thinks that nobody noticed him because he was plain and dull and compares himself to a stone.

He asks Link to bring him some medicine to give him strength. If Link brings either Red Potion or Blue Potion to him, he becomes visible once again. In gratitude, he gives Link the Stone Mask. The Stone Mask allows Link to avoid being noticed by enemies. After doing this, Shiro can be found finding a way to raise his spear in an attempt to stand out.

In Majora's Mask 3D, Shiro is found in the Pirates' Fortress near Great Bay. To receive the Stone Mask from him, Link must use the Lens of Truth to see Shiro and give him a Red or Blue Potion. Majora's Mask 3D includes Shiro in the exact same way, but he is found in the fortress instead, making it quite difficult for Link, as he must sneak past many pirates unseen.

Etymology

In Japanese, Shiro means blank, or plain. Shiro refers to himself as those, so the name matches his personality.

Trivia

  • Shiro is the counterpart of the Wounded Soldier in the Back Alley waving for help in Ocarina of Time. They have the same model and animations. Like Shiro, this soldier is easily overlooked, pleading for help, and is not noticed by anyone.
