There are 26 Secret Seashells on Koholint Island, but only 20 are required to collect the L-2 Sword from Seashell Mansion. There are 50 Secret Seashells on Koholint Island, of which 40 are required to collect the Koholint Sword from the Seashell Mansion. After collecting 15, Link can collect the Seashell Sensor from the Mansion, which pings if Link is close to a Secret Seashell.
The full list of obtainable rewards is:
