Breath of the Wild In-Game Description

Rushroom is a type of mushroom and material found in Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

Appearances

Breath of the Wild

A Rushroom will restore ½ of a heart when eaten raw. Roasting it over an open flame turns it into a Toasty Rushroom, which restores ¾ of a heart, but has no stat-boosting effect.

Rushrooms can be used in a variety of Recipes, and they have an extra cooking effect of increased speed. Rushrooms can also be used to create Purple Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village.

Locations

They tend to grow all over the place, but especially on cliff faces, and are easily distinguishable due to their purple coloring. They are most abundant on the cliffs of the Gerudo Highlands, but are also prevalent along the cliffs in the Wasteland Tower region and along the cliffs surrounding the Thundra Plateau.

Link can also purchase Rushrooms from the Spore Store, located in Korok Forest. At a cost of 12 rupees per Rushroom, this is a bit high, considering how abundant these are in the overworld.

Upgrades

Link will need Rushrooms to upgrade the Climbing Set, consisting of the Climbing Gear, Climber's Bandanna, and Climbing Boots. For the Level 1 upgrades, Link will need 3 Rushrooms, as well as 3 Keese Wings.

The Level 3 upgrade of the Sand Boots requires 15 Rushrooms, along with 2 Molduga Guts.

The Level 3 upgrade of the Snow Boots requires 15 Rushrooms, along with 5 Octorok Eyeballs.

Quest

Found at the Gerudo Canyon Stable, Link will get the Rushroom Rush! quest from Pirou. Here he will ask Link to bring him exactly 55 Rushrooms. In exchange for doing so, he will reward Link with a Diamond, and thus completing the quest. However, Link could still bring him a second batch of 55 Rushrooms, of which Pirou will pay him 330 rupees. This is twice the market value, as Link would normally only get 3 rupees per Rushroom, which comes out to 165 rupees for 55 of them.
