The Red Bubble is a variation of a Bubble that appears in three Zelda games to date. They are always surrounded by a red fire that indicates when they are alive.

Appearances

Ocarina of Time

Guard against its attack with
your shield!

Red Bubbles in Ocarina of Time appear in areas with lava and attack by jumping out of the lava at Link. If they hit the ground, they bounce around wildly until they enter the lava once again. Their flames can be put out by shielding with the Hylian Shield or by stunning them with other means, such as the Hookshot. Once this happens, they lose their flames and bounce around much more slowly, giving Link an opportunity to defeat them. They do, however, regain their flames once they re-enter the lava.

Red Bubble? If it comes at you,

Red Bubbles in Majora's Mask have the same appearance and behavior as their Ocarina of Time incarnations and appear only in the Snowhead Temple.

The Wind Waker

Red Bubbles appear in dungeons, once again chiefly in fire areas. This incarnation does not jump out of lava to attack Link; instead, they slowly float around until they notice him, at which point they chase Link around in an attempt to make contact and damage him but lose interest and give up if Link gets too far away. They can be defeated with a ranged weapon, such as the Hero's Bow, or stunned with the Deku Leaf or the Hookshot and then attacked in close range.
