The Recovery Heart is a basic method of health recovery, appearing in every game in The Legend of Zelda series to date, excluding The Adventure of Link. Picking one up heals Link by one heart. In most games, it is found by defeating enemies, breaking pots, cutting down grass, or bought in stores. Unlike most items, they are used right away and cannot be stored.

In The Legend of Zelda, Recovery Hearts are sold by the Merchant in his Item Shop for 10 Rupees a piece.

In A Link Between Worlds, a lady in Kakariko Village will romantically give Link a Piece of Heart during his first visit to her house. Every time he enters her house afterwards, she will give him a Recovery Heart.
